Kia Clavis Launch Ahead Of Festive Season – Powertrain, Features, ADAS & More
Kia is gearing up to launch the Clavis SUV in India. This upcoming SUV from Kia India is expected to be launched before the upcoming festive season in the country.
That being said, the upcoming Kia Clavis SUV has been spotted testing in India with heavy camouflage. Despite the use of camouflage, the Kia Clavis test mule revealed some interesting details about the model.
Starting with the design, the upcoming Kia Clavis is expected to sport a vibrant and youthful design coupled with a large glasshouse and slab-sided doors, contributing to a tall and upright stance.
Other interesting details about the Kia Clavis SUV include vertically arranged headlamps and DRLs. Also, the rear portion of the Kia Clavis SUV design echoes the larger Kia EV9 SUV, with vertically placed taillights joined by a horizontal light bar.
In terms of features, we expect the upcoming Kia Clavis to sport feature ventilated front seats, a 360-degree camera system, a panoramic sunroof, parking sensors at both ends, six airbags, four-wheel disc brakes, and ADAS tech in the upper variants.
Powertrain-wise, we expect the upcoming Kia Clavis SUV to sport the same powertrain options as the Kia Sonet SUV. This means, the model could be offered with three engine options - a 1.2-litre naturally-aspirated petrol engine, a 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine, and a 1.5-litre turbocharged diesel engine.
When launched, the Kia Clavis will be positioned in between the Kia Sonet and the bigger Kia Seltos SUV. This unique positioning of the model will give more options to customers and help them select the right-sized SUV for their needs.
That being said, the launch of the Kia Clavis could be a game changer in the SUV segment as the success of the model could trigger other car manufacturers to follow the same path, creating a whole new SUV segment in the process.
Furthermore, Kia is also expected to launch the electric version of the Kia Clavis in India. However, we expect this model to take some time before it reaches the highly competitive Indian automobile market.
