Kia Carens Updated With New Diesel Engine & Features – Prices Start At Rs 12.12 Lakh
Kia India launched the facelifted version of the Kia Carens MPV in India. While the Kia Carens MPV prices start at Rs 10.52 lakh (ex-showroom), the prices for the newly added variants start at Rs 12.12 lakh (ex-showroom).
Thanks to the newly added variants, the Kia Carens MPV now has 30 variants in total. These newly launched variants are courtesy of the new U2 1.5 VGT diesel engine.
Taking a deeper dive, Kia India is offering the new U2 1.5 VGT diesel engine is available in both 6-seat and 7-seat configurations. To further improve flexibility for customers, this new powertrain is available in 6 trim levels - Premium, Premium (O), Prestige, Prestige+, Luxury, and Luxury+.
That being said, Kia India is yet to reveal the specifications of the new U2 1.5 VGT diesel engine. This engine at present looks to be sold alongside the three other engine options - a 1.5-litre naturally-aspirated petrol engine, a 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine, and a 1.5-litre turbo diesel engine.
At present, the 1.5-litre turbo diesel engine in the Kia Carens MPV is tuned to produce 113bhp and 250Nm of peak torque. Also, this diesel engine can be specified with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic transmission unit.
In addition to these changes, the new Kia Carens is now available in Pewter Green shade. However, this shade cannot be specified with the X-Line trim. Also, the X-Line trim continues to offer the Matte Grey shade as an exclusive.
Speaking about the Kia Carens X-Line, the variant has now received a minor update which includes added features such as a dashcam, voice commands for window function, and an option to specify 7-seat configuration.
Other variants of the Kia Carens also received their fair share of the update including a sunroof, LED map lamp, room lamp in the Prestige+(O) trim along with an option to specify 6-speed automatic or 7-speed DCT transmissions.
The update also adds 6 and 7-seat configurations along with features such as a leatherette-wrapped gear knob, smart key, push-button start, LED rear combination lamp, and LED DRLs in the Prestige (O) trim.
Notably the Premium (O) trim of the new Kia Carens also incorporates some added features such as keyless entry, 8-speaker audio system, sharkfin antenna, burglar alarm, and steering mounted audio control function along with improved safety features.
Thoughts About The New Kia Carens
With 30 variants on offer, the new Kia Carens offers tremendous flexibility to its target audience. However, we have to wait till the specification release of the new diesel engine to understand what it offers that is different compared to the outgoing oil burner.
