Kia America Sets New Sales Records For Electrified Vehicles In July
Kia America achieved record-breaking sales in July, with a total of 63,580 vehicles sold. SUVs made up 76% of these sales, while electrified models accounted for 18%. This performance contributed to a nearly doubled year-to-date volume of electric vehicle (EV) models compared to the previous year.
Eric Watson, vice president of sales operations at Kia America, stated, "Kia anticipated the shifting market trends and we proactively responded by improving our range of sustainable electrified models including hybrid, plug-in hybrid and all-electric models." He added that the popularity of their award-winning SUVs like the Seltos and Sportage has also driven consumer interest.
The ICE Seltos SUV saw a 5% increase in sales, while the Sportage SUV experienced a 4% rise. Both models set new July records. These vehicles are available with internal combustion engine (ICE), hybrid, and plug-in hybrid powertrains. Their strong performance has significantly boosted Kia's overall sales growth.
In addition to their monthly sales success, Kia America announced several initiatives. The company was named among TIME magazine’s "World's Most Sustainable Companies of 2024." This recognition was based on various sustainability criteria, including adherence to the UN Global Compact and participation in the UNFCCC Race to Zero.
Kia America also donated $250,000 to the American Red Cross. This contribution aims to support emergency disaster relief and recovery efforts following Hurricane Beryl's devastating impact in the U.S. The company's commitment to sustainability and community support continues to be a significant part of its corporate ethos.
For model year 2025, Kia announced pricing for three popular models: the Sportage and Sorento SUVs, and the Soul urban runabout. These announcements are part of Kia's strategy to maintain consumer interest and competitiveness in the market.
