JLR And Meridian Collaboration For Future Electric Vehicles
JLR has extended its collaboration with Meridian to develop high-performance in-car audio technology for future electric vehicles. This partnership, which began in 2010, aims to enhance the audio experience in JLR's Range Rover, Defender, Discovery, and Jaguar models.
The collaboration allows Meridian's experts to contribute to the design of new models at an earlier stage. This early involvement is crucial as JLR advances its luxury electrification plans. The cabins are designed to ensure optimal audio experiences.
JLR Innovative Audio Technology
Meridian's current top-tier in-car audio system is featured in Range Rover models. The Meridian Signature Sound System includes 35 speakers, delivering a 1600W immersive sound experience. Each of the four main headrests contains two 20W speakers.
This system also supports the MLA-Flex body architecture, providing a serene cabin environment. A third-generation Active Noise Cancellation system monitors wheel vibrations, tyre noise, and engine sounds. It generates a cancelling signal played through the speakers.

JLR Extending Immersive Sound Experience
Another innovation from this collaboration is the optional Range Rover Tailgate Event Suite. This feature includes four additional rear speakers for enhanced entertainment when socialising with the tailgate deployed.

The Active Noise Cancellation technology helps occupants arrive refreshed after long journeys by monitoring and cancelling unwanted sounds transmitted into the cabin. This ensures passengers enjoy a first-class experience throughout their trip.
JLR and Meridian plan to explore new opportunities for immersive audio design with automotive electrification. They are already working on world-first technology set to debut in future JLR vehicles.
