Jaguar Land Rover Announces Assembly Of Range Rover In India To Cut Costs
Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) has announced plans to assemble Range Rover cars in India, a move that is expected to significantly reduce their prices.
The company aims to achieve price reductions of 18% to 22%, making these luxury vehicles more accessible to Indian consumers.

The first model to be assembled in India will be the Range Rover Sport, with deliveries anticipated to begin in August 2023. This strategic decision allows JLR to avoid import duties and transportation costs, which currently inflate the prices of fully built units imported into India.
JLR is targeting a price reduction ranging from Rs. 10 lakh to Rs. 90 lakh for its cars in India. This substantial decrease is expected to boost sales and expand the customer base for Range Rover vehicles in the country. The company sold 4,436 cars in India between April 2022 and March 2023, marking an 81% increase compared to the previous year.

Expanding Assembly Operations
Initially focusing on the Range Rover Sport, JLR plans to assemble other models in India as well. The company also sells Discovery and Defender models in the Indian market.
By localising assembly, JLR aims to increase its market share and strengthen its presence in the competitive Indian automotive sector.

DriveSpark Thinks
This decision aligns with JLR's broader strategy to enhance its market position in India. By reducing prices, the company hopes to attract a wider range of consumers and drive sales growth. The lower prices are expected to make Range Rover cars more appealing and accessible, contributing to increased market penetration.
JLR's move to assemble Range Rover cars in India marks a significant development for the Indian automotive market. The anticipated price reductions will likely make these luxury vehicles more attainable for a broader audience, potentially boosting sales and market share for JLR in India.
