Isuzu MU-X SUV Facelift Launches In Thailand: Will It Make It To India ?
Isuzu has updated the 2nd-gen MU-X SUV in Thailand. The ladder frame chassis and powertrain options remain unchanged. This facelift includes new tech features and cosmetic updates for both exteriors and interiors. The mid-cycle update will soon launch in other markets. Isuzu India might consider this model to replace the ageing 1st-gen version.
Exterior Updates
The Isuzu MU-X facelift shares many features with the Isuzu D-Max pickup. The 2nd-gen model now has a new RS variant with a sportier profile. The front fascia is redesigned, highlighting LED headlights and a more prominent grill. Its rugged bumper intakes enhance the SUV's sporty look.

The side profile includes thick body cladding, running boards, sporty alloy wheels, and blacked-out B and C pillars. At the rear, the facelifted model has a refreshed bumper and all-new full-width LED tail lights. Additionally, the RS variant offers exclusive features like a chrome-infused grill and lime green highlights.
Interior Updates
The interior now features a 7-inch digital instrument cluster and a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system. This system supports wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The facelift also focuses on improved aesthetics with updated seats and door trims. The RS variant includes red ambient lighting and black inserts.

Safety Features
The Isuzu MU-X facelift enhances safety with new ADAS features. Depending on the variant, the ADAS kit includes blind spot monitoring, adaptive cruise control, traffic jam assist, lane keeping assist, and rear cross-traffic brake. The surround view monitor offers multiple functions, including an under-vehicle view, beneficial for off-roading.
Powertrain Options
The powertrain options remain the same with a 1.9-litre turbo diesel engine producing 148 hp and a 3.0-litre turbo diesel engine generating 187 hp. The 4WD option is available only with the top-spec RS variant. All variants in Thailand come with a 6-speed automatic transmission.

Pricing
The base-spec model is priced at approximately Rs 26.90 lakh. The top-spec 4×4 RS variant is priced at around Rs 39.97 lakh. The Isuzu MU-X facelift will compete with the Toyota Fortuner, Mitsubishi Pajero Sport, and Ford Everest in select ASEAN markets.
DriveSpark Thinks
While the Isuzu MU-X facelift boasts a sportier look, upgraded technology, and improved safety features, it remains to be seen if Isuzu India will consider this for the Indian market.

The current model sold in India is the first generation, and this facelift could be a tempting replacement to compete with the likes of Toyota Fortuner. However, a decision likely hinges on factors like market demand and pricing strategy.
