Isuzu D-Max Ambulance Launched In India At Rs 26 Lakh: A New Benchmark In Patient Transport

The Isuzu D-Max Ambulance, recently introduced in India, comes with a price tag of ₹26 lakh (ex-showroom, Chennai). Designed to fulfill the AIS-125 Type C specifications, this ambulance variant aims to set a new benchmark in the 'Basic Life Support' category, offering unparalleled reliability, safety, and comfort for patient transportation. It boasts 14 top-notch features, positioning itself as a leader in its segment.

Equipped with a robust 1.9-litre four-cylinder diesel engine, the Isuzu D-Max Ambulance delivers 161 bhp and a peak torque of 360 Nm. This ambulance is celebrated for its exceptional acceleration owing to a flat peak torque curve, a crucial factor for rapid response in emergencies.

The vehicle is also fitted with essential safety features, such as dual front airbags, ABS, ESC, EBD, Emergency Brake Assist, traction control, and a Brake Override system, ensuring both patient and crew safety during transport.

The vehicle's design focuses on space optimization and practicality, featuring a single-cab layout that maximizes the patient compartment area. The ambulance is fully loaded with necessary equipment, including warning lights, flashers, sirens, side lights, and a PA system, alongside high-visibility stickers for enhanced on-road presence. The interior is designed with hygiene, durability, and rust resistance in mind, using PUF-insulated GRP body panels.

For ease of access, the ambulance includes wide rear doors that fully open, a built-in ramp, and numerous storage units. These features facilitate seamless ingress and egress for the medical team, especially when utilizing the stretcher-cum-trolley.

The patient compartment is not only practical but also considers the comfort of the patient and the efficiency of the medical crew, with fixed glass windows, sliding windows for communication between the driver's cabin and the rear unit, and a privacy curtain.

Isuzu Motors India has tailored the D-Max Ambulance for optimal performance in Indian conditions. Based on the robust iGrip platform, which is at the heart of the D-Max range, this ambulance variant is equipped with an SUV-like Hi-Ride suspension system.

This setup ensures additional comfort and superior damping. The ambulance's shorter wheelbase enhances maneuverability, making it apt for navigating through tight urban spaces and rural areas alike.

The ambulance is designed with a focus on quick and efficient medical response. The rear compartment not only allows for the secure storage of oxygen cylinders but also includes a comprehensive delivery system equipped with an oxygen humidifier, all adhering to AIS-125 specifications. This ensures that the vehicle is ready to provide critical care from the moment it arrives on the scene.
