Intercultural Innovation Hub 2024: Global Nomads Group Recognised For 'Content Creation Lab' At UNAOC Forum
The "Global Nomads Group" from the USA was among ten grassroots initiatives honoured at the Intercultural Innovation Hub (IIH). This initiative is a collaboration between the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations (UNAOC) and BMW Group, with Accenture's support. The awards were presented during the 10th UNAOC Global Forum in Cascais, Portugal, themed "United in Peace: Restoring Trust, Reshaping the Future."
The forum gathered notable figures, political leaders, and UN officials, including Secretary-General António Guterres. Representatives from civil society, academia, and private sectors also attended to discuss two decades of UNAOC's work. The event highlighted efforts to foster dialogue and understanding across cultures.
The "Content Creation Lab" by Global Nomads Group connects young people worldwide through digital learning platforms. This initiative focuses on critical issues like climate justice and inclusive leadership. It empowers youth to create educational content shared globally, reaching over 10,000 young individuals in more than 65 countries each year.
This youth-driven model encourages discussions on diversity and stereotypes. It aims to cultivate understanding among global youth. Courtney Welsh, CEO of Global Nomads Group, expressed excitement about the support from the Intercultural Innovation Hub. "Global Nomads is thrilled that, with the support from the Intercultural Innovation Hub, we will be able to bring more global youth together across distance and differences to challenge each other’s preconceptions," she stated.
Ilka Horstmeier from BMW AG praised initiatives like "Content Creation Lab" for bridging intercultural gaps. "With the Intercultural Innovation Hub, we celebrate outstanding initiatives like ‘Content Creation Lab’, which are implemented by extraordinary individuals working to bridge intercultural divisions in innovative and impactful ways," she said.
Miguel Ángel Moratinos of UNAOC emphasised their commitment to fostering inclusive communities through grassroots projects. "We are committed to advancing inclusive, global communities by empowering grassroots initiatives that champion diversity and social cohesion," he stated.
Collaboration for Lasting Change
The Intercultural Innovation Hub provides financial grants and mentorship for one year to strengthen projects like "Content Creation Lab." This collaboration between UNAOC and private sectors enhances project sustainability by leveraging expertise from partners such as BMW Group and Accenture.
This partnership aims to amplify social innovators' transformative work globally. It supports efforts towards a more united world by addressing urgent societal challenges through innovative approaches.
