INEOS Automotive Announces Partnership With RNLI To Enhance Lifesaving Operations
INEOS Automotive has entered a five-year partnership with the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI). This collaboration will see INEOS supplying Grenadier vehicles to support the RNLI's lifesaving missions across the UK and Ireland. The Grenadier, an award-winning 4X4, will be used to meet the demanding needs of this vital search and rescue charity.
Jamie Chestnutt, RNLI Director for Engineering and Supply, stated, "The partnership between the RNLI and INEOS Automotive aligns perfectly with INEOS's ‘Built for More’ ethos given the lifesaving work conducted by the RNLI and our volunteers. As a charity which relies solely on donations, support such as this from INEOS Automative enables the RNLI to continue to save lives at sea, while also providing our operational volunteers with the best equipment available. Only by working in true partnership with industry can we sustain our lifesaving service in our 200th year and beyond."
The Grenadier Station Wagons will be deployed at various locations throughout the UK and Ireland. These vehicles will assist RNLI volunteers in their crucial role of launching lifeboats to aid those in distress at sea. The primary function of these vehicles will be to position, launch, and recover the RNLI’s D-class lifeboats at selected stations.
The D-Class lifeboat has been a cornerstone of the RNLI’s operations for over 60 years. It is highly manoeuvrable and operates effectively in surf, shallow waters, and confined spaces. This inflatable boat has saved over 30,000 lives and assisted more than 160,000 people.
After rigorous testing of several 4X4 vehicles, the Grenadier was chosen for its superior off-road and on-road performance. Its robustness ensures it can withstand the challenging conditions faced by RNLI volunteers during their missions. Similar to RNLI lifeboats built for tough situations, the Grenadier's durability makes it an ideal addition to their equipment.
Lynn Calder, CEO of INEOS Automotive, expressed pride in supporting the RNLI. "We’re very proud to support the RNLI, an incredible charity that performs round-the-clock life-saving work in very difficult conditions. Its volunteers rely on vehicles every day, both boats and cars, so this is a powerful endorsement of the Grenadier that it’s able to meet the rigorous standards required for such vital frontline work."
Future Collaboration Opportunities
This partnership also opens doors for future technological collaborations aimed at sustaining RNLI’s lifesaving efforts. Additionally, INEOS will help spread essential water safety messages to broader audiences through this alliance.
The RNLI celebrates its 200th anniversary in 2024. Since its inception in 1824, it has saved over 146,000 lives at sea. Operating independently from coastguards and government funding, it relies on a dedicated team of 32,000 volunteers and expert staff to run its 238 lifeboat stations across the UK.
About INEOS Automotive
INEOS Automotive was established in 2017 by Jim Ratcliffe after identifying a market gap for a reliable modern-day 4X4. The company launched its first vehicle, the Grenadier, in 2022. This vehicle combines British design with German engineering to offer top-tier off-road capability and reliability.
In addition to providing robust vehicles like Grenadier Station Wagons for frontline work, INEOS Automotive continues to innovate with new models like Quartermaster and Fusilier. These models cater to global consumer needs with options like all-electric powertrains.
The collaboration between INEOS Automotive and RNLI exemplifies how industry partnerships can bolster essential services like lifesaving operations at sea.
