IndianOil Provides Green Hydrogen Fuel Cell Bus To Indian Navy
IndianOil has delivered a cutting-edge green hydrogen fuel cell bus to the Indian Navy, marking a significant step towards eco-friendly transportation. This event was highlighted by an MoU between IndianOil and the Indian Navy to advance hydrogen fuel cell technology for heavy-duty e-mobility.
Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi, Chief of Naval Staff, Mr. S M Vaidya, Chairman of IndianOil, and senior officials from both organisations were present during the MoU exchange. The agreement was signed by Vice Admiral Deepak Kapoor, Controller of Logistics for the Indian Navy, and Dr. Kannan Chandrasekaran, Executive Director of IndianOil at Nau Sena Bhawan in New Delhi.

Hydrogen Fuel Cell Technology
The collaboration aims to promote hydrogen and fuel cell technology for heavy-duty e-mobility. This positions the Indian Navy as a leader in evaluating this technology with IndianOil's support.
The project will test the performance of fuel cell electric buses in Delhi NCR's challenging climate, examining local fuel and air quality impacts on these systems.
Admiral Tripathi expressed his views on this partnership: "The partnership between IndianOil and the Indian Navy is built on an unbreakable bond of trust. We will be testing one of the hydrogen buses and looking forward to deploying environment-friendly transportation in larger numbers, and I must thank IndianOil for choosing the Indian Navy as their partner. The bus will adorn our motto of - 'Indian Navy - Combat Ready, Credible, Cohesive and Future Ready Force'."
Commitment to Sustainability
Mr. S M Vaidya shared his enthusiasm about this initiative: "Today, we come together to celebrate a significant milestone in our shared pursuit of sustainability and environmental stewardship through this advanced Green Hydrogen fuel cell bus to the Indian Navy, symbolizing our commitment to innovation and green technology." He added that IndianOil continues to support defence forces with innovative solutions for future needs.
IndianOil currently operates 15 fuel cell buses in Delhi-NCR and Gujarat, accumulating 300,000 kilometres in total mileage. Each bus is expected to run at least 20,000 kilometres.
This initiative will also evaluate the effectiveness, longevity, and operational reliability of fuel cell buses intended for public fleet use. It aims to assess how well these buses perform under real-world conditions.
The project underscores a commitment to sustainable transportation solutions while supporting India's defence forces with advanced technologies.
This collaboration between IndianOil and the Indian Navy represents a significant move towards greener mobility solutions in India.
