Maruti Suzuki's launch of the new Swift in India has stirred considerable excitement among car enthusiasts. Just a day ago, the company announced its arrival, with the model reaching dealerships shortly thereafter.
Deliveries are set to commence promptly. The Swift, a global favourite, made its debut in Japan and before making its way to India While it shares similarities with its Japanese counterpart, the Indian Maruti Swift boasts distinct features tailored to the local market.
ADAS
The primary distinction lies in the Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS). The Japanese Suzuki Swift is equipped with a suite of ADAS features, including adaptive cruise control and Lane Keep Assist, which are notably absent in the Indian variant.
Mild Hybrid Technology
Another feature that differentiates the two versions is the mild-hybrid technology. Present in the Japanese model, this eco-friendly feature enhances fuel efficiency and aids engine performance at lower speeds. Contrarily, the current Indian Swift generation has opted out of this feature.
Heated Seats
Additionally, the Japanese Swift offers heated seats, a luxury omitted in the Indian model due to the predominantly warm climate across most states in India. In terms of aesthetics and functionality, the alloy wheels also differ.
Alloy Wheels
The international version sports dual-tone alloy wheels, with the higher models boasting 16-inch wheels, as opposed to the 14-inch steel rims and 15-inch alloy wheels available in the lower and higher Indian variants, respectively.
Gearbox
The gearbox options further highlight the differences. The Swift in India is available with a 5-speed manual or a 5-speed AMT gearbox. Meanwhile, the Japanese Swift includes a CVT gearbox option alongside the manual transmission.
AWD
Another significant feature not available in the Indian Swift is the All-Wheel Drive (AWD) system, known as All Grip technology internationally. This feature was excluded in the Indian version to maintain an affordable price point. In the international market, the AWD is paired exclusively with the CVT gearbox.
