2024 Indian Racing Festival Set For Exciting Round 3 At Madras International Circuit

The 2024 Indian Racing Festival (IRF), sponsored by Kingfisher Soda, is set to return to the Madras International Circuit (MIC) for Round 3 of the Indian Racing League (IRL) and Formula 4 Indian Championship (F4IC). This follows the successful debut of the night street circuit race in Chennai. The MIC, which hosted Round 1 of IRF 2024, will welcome back drivers, teams, and fans on September 14 and 15 for more racing excitement.

Located in Irungattukottai, Chennai, the Madras International Circuit spans 3.7 kilometres with fast stretches and sharp turns. The track hosted the opening weekend of IRF 2024 on August 24 and 25. During this event, Jon Lancaster and Alister Yoong secured victories in Race 1 and Race 2 of the Indian Racing League. In the Formula 4 Indian Championship, Jaden Pariat won the first race while Hugh Barter claimed victories in Races 2 and 3.

Indian Racing League Highlights

The IRF's return to MIC comes just two weeks after the thrilling Chennai night street race. Goa Aces JA Racing's Gabriela Jilkova made history as the first female pole-sitter in the Indian Racing League. In IRL Race 1, Jilkova finished P2 behind Raoul Hyman, adding significant points to their team's tally. Alvaro Parente led Speed Demons Delhi to a sensational comeback in Race 2 by securing pole position, fastest lap, and P1.

Shrachi Rarh Bengal Tigers demonstrated consistency across all races during this period. They maintained their lead in the Teams' Championship with a total of 107 points and held the top two spots in the Car Championship. This performance underscored their dominance in the competition.

Formula 4 Indian Championship

In Formula 4 Indian Championship action at MIC, Hugh Barter continued his winning streak by clinching victory in Race 1 against India's Ruhaan Alva. Aqil Alibhai took top honours in Race 2. These results added to an already intense competition among young racers.

JK Tyre-FMSCI Indian National Racing Championship

The JK Tyre-FMSCI Indian National Racing Championship also saw action at Chennai's Formula Racing Circuit with its second round becoming notable as India's first domestic motor racing competition to feature a night street circuit race. Dark Don Racing continued their strong start with Diljith TS winning Race 1 and finishing P2 in Race 2 behind Tijil Rao.

Tijil Rao now leads the Drivers' Standings with 31 points after two rounds. Dark Don Racing extended their lead at the top of the Teams' Standings with a total of 65 points, nearly double that of their closest competitor MSport.

Neythan McPherson's twin P1s in the LGB4 Rookie segment saw him tie Abhay M at the top of their leaderboard, both drivers accumulating a total of 34 points so far.

The IRF aims to engage India's growing motorsports fanbase through two exciting championships: the Indian Racing League and FIA Formula 4 Indian Championship. These events are designed to support emerging talent and enhance motorsport experiences for enthusiasts nationwide.
