June 2024 Automotive Sales: Skoda And Volkswagen Analysis
Passenger vehicle sales in India remained stagnant in June 2024, with many automakers reporting lacklustre performance. Companies offered significant discounts and price cuts to attract customers, but registrations continued to decline. Inventory levels of passenger vehicles reached an all-time high, ranging from 62-67 days.
Skoda Auto experienced a 35% year-on-year (YoY) decline in sales for June 2024, selling 2,566 units compared to 3,966 units in June 2023. Month-on-month (MoM) sales also fell by 11%, down from 2,884 units sold in May 2024. Each of Skoda's models—Kushaq, Slavia, and Kodiaq—contributed to this decline.
