From Luxury To Mass-Market: New Car Launches In August 2024
India is set to witness the launch of new cars and SUVs in August. These launches span various segments, including both mass-market and luxury models. As such, let's take a look at these upcoming vehicles.
Nissan X-Trail
Nissan India will expand its lineup on August 1 with the flagship X-Trail SUV. This 7-seater will be imported as a CBU and compete with models like the Jeep Meridian, MG Gloster, Skoda Kodiaq, and Toyota Fortuner. It features a 1.5-litre three-cylinder turbo-petrol engine producing 163hp and 300Nm, paired with a CVT automatic gearbox driving the front wheels. Prices are expected to start from Rs 40 lakh-45 lakh (ex-showroom).

Tata Curvv
Tata Motors is gearing up to introduce the Curvv on August 7. This coupe-SUV will offer an alternative to midsize SUVs such as the Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos. It will come with three engine options: a 120hp, 1.2-litre turbo-petrol, a 115hp, 1.5-litre diesel, and a new 125hp, 225Nm 1.2-litre three-cylinder direct-injection turbo-petrol. All engines will have a dual-clutch automatic option.

Tata Curvv EV
The Curvv will also have an electric variant featuring two battery packs: a new 55kWh unit and the existing 40.5kWh unit from Nexon LR. The Curvv EV could offer up to 550km range and share features with its petrol counterpart, including a 12.3-inch touchscreen, fully digital driver's display, powered tailgate with gesture function, panoramic sunroof, reclining rear seat, ventilated front seats, and ADAS Level 2.

Mahindra Thar Roxx
Mahindra's Thar Roxx will debut on August 15 as the official name for the Thar 5-door model. It will feature design changes, a longer wheelbase, additional doors, and new features over the Thar 3-door version. These include a 10.25-inch touchscreen, fully digital instrument cluster, LED projector headlamps, a 360-degree camera, and ADAS. Existing engine options from the Thar 3-door may be tuned for higher performance.

Citroen Basalt
The Citroen Basalt is set to join the coupe-SUV segment alongside Tata Curvv after its global debut on August 2. It shares its dashboard with the C3 Aircross but adds features like auto climate control with toggle switches, contoured rear headrests, and a larger front armrest with storage. Powered by a 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine generating 110hp and 205Nm torque, it offers both manual and automatic transmission options.

Mercedes GLC 43 4Matic Coupe
The Mercedes GLC 43 4Matic Coupe will launch in India on August 8 after being unveiled last September. It houses a mild-hybrid tech-equipped four-cylinder turbo-petrol engine producing 421hp and 500Nm torque for a swift acceleration of 0 to 100 kph in just under 5 seconds. Typical AMG design elements adorn both its interior and exterior.

Lamborghini Urus SE
The Lamborghini Urus SE is scheduled for an August launch in India on August nine featuring styling updates over its standard counterpart along with new dashboard panels, redesigned AC vents complemented by an advanced central touchscreen measuring twelve-point-three inches.

Powered by twin-turbocharged V8 engine paired plug-in hybrid system delivering total output 800hp, 950Nm of torque making it most powerful version SUV range-topping trim Urus lineup.
