Hyundai Verna Tops Sales Chart In India's Mid-Size Sedan Segment

In the ever-evolving Indian automobile market, the allure of mid-size sedans remains undiminished for a dedicated segment of car enthusiasts. Despite a noticeable dip in their overall demand, a handful of models continue to vie for dominance in this competitive space.

Among them, the Hyundai Verna has distinguished itself as the preferred choice, leading the sales chart and capturing the imagination of sedan aficionados across the country.

Verna Leads Mid-Size Sedan Sales in India

The Hyundai Verna has solidified its position at the pinnacle of mid-size sedan sales in India from April 2023 to March 2024. With an impressive tally of 30,027 units sold, averaging about 2,502 vehicles per month, it's clear that the Verna has struck a chord with Indian consumers.

Its sales peaked impressively in April and June 2023, with each month seeing 4,001 units rolling off the showroom floors. However, December 2023 saw a significant dip to just 712 units, reflecting a broader trend of fluctuating market dynamics. Despite these challenges, the Verna has managed to secure a third of the mid-size sedan market share in India.

Not far behind, the Volkswagen Virtus has carved out its niche in the Indian market. With 21,094 units sold throughout the financial year 2023-24 and an average monthly sale of 1,758 vehicles, it firmly holds the second spot.

December 2023 was particularly fruitful for Virtus, with sales peaking at 2,199 units. The model's consistent performance above the 1,000-unit mark each month underscores its growing appeal among Indian buyers and its resilience in a fluctuating market.

The Japanese Contenders: Honda City and Maruti Suzuki Ciaz

Trailing behind are two models that embody Japanese engineering and design philosophy - the Honda City and Maruti Suzuki Ciaz.
