Hyundai To Set Up 600 Fast EV Chargers By 2031 - The Creta EV Effect?
South Korean carmaker Hyundai has revealed plans to set up 600 fast EV chargers in India by 2031, with 50 in place by the end of the year. Like Hyundai's current array of fast chargers in the country, these new chargers will be open to all four-wheeler EVs sold in the country.
The announcement about the setting up of an extensive new fast-charging network across the country comes ahead of the arrival of the electric version of the firm's bestselling SUV, the Creta.

The all-new Hyundai Creta EV will be revealed at Auto Expo 2025 and is expected to go on sale shortly after. The Creta EV will be sold alongside the firm's current flagship EV, the Ioniq 5 in 2025 with 3 more set to follow by the year 2030.
The Hyundai Creta EV will feature a design that is similar to the one seen on the current ICE version of the SUV. At the front, the biggest change is expected to be a closed-off version of the regular Creta's grille while the rear will of course be devoid of a tailpipe.
The lighting setup is also expected to be retained with the split headlights as well as the connected lighting for the DRLs and taillights. The Creta EV is also expected to sport a set of new aerodynamically profiled wheels to help with the range.
The interior of the car is expected to feature the familiar design seen on the regular Creta with dual displays for the infotainment and instrumentation though the upholstery is expected to get an upgrade in terms of premium materials, or it could go down the same eco-friendly material found on the flagship Ioniq 5 EV.
Details about the battery pack are not currently available but the Creta is expected to be offered with two battery pack options with the larger one expected to offer a range of around 500 kilometres.
When it is revealed at Auto Expo 2025 and goes on sale shortly after, the new Creta EV is expected to go head to head with the likes of the Tata Curvv and Mahindra's newly renamed BE 6.
