Hyundai Collaborates With Julie Bowen For Teen Driver Safety Week Social Media Campaign
Hyundai has launched a social media series to mark Teen Driver Safety Week, running from October 20-26. The series, featuring actress Julie Bowen and her sons, aims to promote safe driving practices among teenagers. It highlights common driving anxieties for both teens and their parents while showcasing Hyundai's safety features designed to address these concerns.
The series is available on TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube, having started on October 21. It uses humour to tackle issues like parking and navigating traffic. Hyundai's standard safety features are emphasised as tools to help young drivers feel more secure on the road.

Hyundai vehicles come equipped with advanced SmartSense technology. This includes features like Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist with Pedestrian Detection and Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist. These technologies aim to enhance driver confidence and safety.
The Hyundai Bluelink App offers additional safeguards such as speed alerts and geo-fence alerts. These features provide parents with peace of mind by allowing them to monitor their teen's driving habits remotely.
In addition to the social media campaign, Hyundai has collaborated with the Wall Street Journal on a video project titled "Teen Mode." Launching on October 25, this content will explore family concerns about teen driving while highlighting the freedom it offers.
The video series shares stories from three families across the U.S., demonstrating how Hyundai's safety features help build confidence for both teens and their parents. The content will be available on Hyundai’s custom site with the Wall Street Journal.
Recognition for Safety Excellence
Hyundai has achieved significant milestones in vehicle safety. The 2024 Tucson Hybrid was named a Best New SUV for Teens by U.S. News & World Report. Additionally, nine Hyundai models have received TOP SAFETY PICK or TSP+ awards from the Insurance Institute of Highway Safety (IIHS).
Among these award-winning models are the 2024 IONIQ 6, Kona, Tucson, IONIQ 5, Elantra, Palisade, Santa Cruz, Sonata, and Santa Fe. These accolades underscore Hyundai's commitment to leading in standard safety equipment across its lineup.
Economic Impact in the U.S.
Hyundai Motor America plays a significant role in the U.S. economy through its operations and dealer network. With headquarters in California and manufacturing plants in Alabama and Georgia, Hyundai contributes $20.1 billion annually to the economy and supports 190,000 jobs nationwide.
"Both teens and their parents are increasingly anxious about teen driving – with one in four unlicensed teens being too scared to drive," said Sean Gilpin, chief marketing officer at Hyundai Motor America. "As part of our continued focus on quality, safety and reliability, we wanted to show how the tech and safety features of our vehicles can help empower both teens and their parents to feel more confident behind the wheel."
The campaign with Julie Bowen provides an opportunity for Hyundai to engage audiences on social media while addressing serious topics with a light-hearted approach. The initiative underscores Hyundai’s dedication to promoting safe driving habits among young drivers.
