Hyundai Pursues Fifth Consecutive TCR Manufacturers' Championship At Road Atlanta

Hyundai Motor America is on the brink of clinching its fifth consecutive TCR Manufacturers’ Championship in the 2024 IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge. The final race, Fox Factory 120 at Road Atlanta, will be crucial. Hyundai has consistently secured podium finishes throughout the season, and maintaining this streak will ensure their championship victory.

The No. 33 Hyundai Elantra N TCR, driven by Harry Gottsacker and Robert Wickens, remains a strong contender in the Drivers’ Championship. They have narrowed the points gap with impressive performances, keeping their title hopes alive for the final race. Last year, they overcame a similar deficit to win at Road Atlanta.

Throughout the 2024 season, Hyundai has achieved podium finishes in every race. This consistent performance has been pivotal in maintaining their lead in the Manufacturers’ Championship standings. The team aims to continue this trend at Road Atlanta to secure another title.

In last year's event at Road Atlanta, Mason Filippi and Mark Wilkins secured a victory for Hyundai in the No. 33 Elantra N TCR. Meanwhile, Gottsacker and Wickens finished fourth, earning their first Drivers’ Championship as a duo.

The final round of the 2024 IMPC season is scheduled for Friday, Oct. 11, with live coverage starting at noon EDT on Peacock. The two-hour race will take place on Road Atlanta's challenging 12-turn, 2.54-mile circuit.

Hyundai's commitment extends beyond racing achievements. In 2024, Hyundai Hope On Wheels pledged $100 for each lap led by a Hyundai Elantra N TCR during races to support childhood cancer research. So far, over $28,000 has been raised through nine events.

Current Standings and Team Efforts

The championship standings show Gottsacker and Wickens in second place with 2600 points driving for Bryan Herta Autosport. Their teammates Mason Filippi and Mark Wilkins are close behind in third place with 2540 points.
