Hyundai And One Tree Planted Enhance Reforestation Efforts With 300,000 New Trees In North America
FOUNTAIN VALLEY, Calif., June 11, 2024 – Hyundai Motor North America has expanded its collaboration with the nonprofit organization One Tree Planted to plant an additional 300,000 trees across the United States, Canada, and Mexico. This year’s initiative will bring the total number of trees planted through this partnership to 650,000 since its inception in 2022.
One Tree Planted focuses on global reforestation efforts, aiming to restore forests and support biodiversity. "At Hyundai, we believe that as an automaker, we must be proactive in addressing climate change," said José Muñoz, president and global COO of Hyundai Motor Company and president and CEO of Hyundai Motor North America. "Our partnership with One Tree Planted is one of many initiatives that complement our sustainable mobility solutions."
To commemorate the ongoing partnership, Hyundai employees participated in a tree planting event in Huntington Beach, California. Volunteers planted approximately 150 coastal native plants and cleared invasive species from the restoration area.

The partnership with One Tree Planted aligns with Hyundai Motor’s broader IONIQ Forest project. Originating in South Korea with the launch of Hyundai’s all-electric IONIQ series, the IONIQ Forest aims to plant more trees to promote a cleaner environment. Each tree planting initiative under this partnership contributes to reforestation efforts, biodiversity preservation, and climate change mitigation.
