Hyundai N And Toyota GAZOO Racing Host Inaugural Motorsport Festival In Korea
Hyundai and Toyota are inviting motorsport enthusiasts to a special event at Everland Speedway in Yong-in, South Korea, on October 27, 2024. This festival marks the first collaboration between Hyundai N and TOYOTA GAZOO Racing in Korea. The event aims to highlight high-performance vehicles and racing cars from both brands, offering fans an exciting glimpse into the motorsport world.
The festival will feature a 'Track Day' where attendees can immerse themselves in high-performance culture. Hyundai N and Toyota GR vehicles will be showcased in action. A demo drive, simulating a real rally experience, will be a major attraction. Professional drivers from each company's World Rally Team will participate, providing thrilling experiences for attendees.
Hyundai N plans to display rally cars from its World Rally Championship (WRC) program. These include the i20 N Rally 1 Hybrid and i20 N Rally 2 models. Drivers Thierry Neuville, Dani Sordo, and Andreas Mikkelsen will represent Hyundai Motorsport WRC. Additionally, TCR drivers Norbert Mischelisz and Mikel Azcona will drive production models like the IONIQ 5 N and Elantra N.
TOYOTA GAZOO Racing will present its GR YARIS Rally 1 Hybrid, GR Yaris Rally 2, GR Supra, and GR86 models. Current Toyota WRC driver Takamoto Katsuta and Jari-Matti Latvala of the TOYOTA GAZOO Racing World Rally Team principal will participate. Nine-time Japan Rally Champion Norihiko Katsuta is also set to join as a Toyota driver.
The festival will also spotlight future-oriented prototypes. Hyundai Motor's IONIQ 5 N Drift Spec and hydrogen-powered N Vision 74 will be featured alongside the Pikes Peak record-holding IONIQ 5 N TA Spec. Toyota will showcase its hydrogen combustion engine AE86 H2 Concept based on the Sprinter Trueno from Initial D animation. The liquid hydrogen-powered GR Corolla highlights Toyota's multi-pathway approach to electrification.
Euisun Chung of Hyundai Motor Group and Akio Toyoda of Toyota Motor Corporation are expected to attend this event. Akio Toyoda often participates in driving activities under the alias 'Morizo'. Their presence underscores both companies' dedication to advancing motorsport culture in South Korea.
Commitment to Motorsport Culture
"We are excited to welcome the TOYOTA GAZOO Racing team, our competitors in the WRC, to Korea," said Yeong Ho Lee, Executive Vice President of Global Operations Division at Hyundai Motor Company. "This event will emphasize the fierce competition and friendship that coexist in motorsport." He added that it is an opportunity to demonstrate shared passion for cars by both brands.

A Legacy of Motorsport Support
For over two decades, Hyundai has supported various competitions aimed at developing motorsport in Korea. Events like the Hyundai Click Speed Festival (2003-2010), Korea Speed Festival (2011-2018), and Hyundai N Festival (2019-2023) have been instrumental in fostering this culture.
This collaborative festival promises not only thrilling experiences but also reinforces both brands' dedication towards expanding motorsport culture globally.
