Hyundai Motor Launches All-Electric IONIQ 9 SUV At Iconic Goldstein House In Los Angeles
Hyundai Motor Company has introduced its IONIQ 9, a three-row electric SUV, at the renowned Goldstein House in Beverly Hills. This marks Hyundai's first large electric SUV and the third model in its IONIQ lineup. The event, held before the Los Angeles Auto Show, underscores Hyundai's commitment to innovation and leadership in the electric vehicle market.
The IONIQ 9 is designed with the concept of 'Built to Belong,' offering ample space and flexibility for up to seven passengers. It features advanced technology and a lounge-like interior that fosters connection among occupants. This aligns with Hyundai's goal to enhance its global brand position through innovative EV solutions.
The premiere event was attended by over 300 media representatives, influencers, and opinion leaders. José Muñoz, President and Global Chief Operating Officer of Hyundai Motor Company, welcomed guests and emphasized Hyundai's dedication to electrification. "We are making remarkable progress in the industry," he stated, highlighting the success of previous models like the IONIQ 5 and 6.
Goldstein House was chosen for its mid-century modern architecture, reflecting both the spaciousness of the IONIQ 9 and Hyundai's ambitions in electrification. The venue provided a panoramic view of Los Angeles, enhancing the event's atmosphere and showcasing Hyundai's confidence in their new vehicle.
SangYup Lee, Executive Vice President and Head of Hyundai and Genesis Global Design, discussed the design innovations of the IONIQ 9. The SUV combines aerodynamic performance with refined aesthetics, resulting in a unique 'Aerosthetic' silhouette. This design philosophy is customer-centric, focusing on both functionality and style.
Olabisi Boyle from Hyundai Motor North America highlighted the vehicle’s expansive interior space. The IONIQ 9 offers flexible seating configurations with a Universal Island 2.0 console and an exceptionally spacious third row. These features cater to individual needs while promoting togetherness.
Cultural Elements
The event also featured cultural elements that tied into Hyundai's brand story. Chef Kwang Uh presented a menu inspired by Korean cuisine with an emphasis on sustainability and local sourcing. DJ Raiden added to the vibrant atmosphere with music that brought guests closer together.
Exhibition items at the event showcased IONIQ 9’s development inspirations, including a boat sculpture symbolizing its sleek exterior design leading to a spacious interior. Die-cast models displayed flexible seating options alongside other innovative features.

The achievements of Hyundai’s IONIQ lineup were celebrated during the event with World Car of the Year trophies on display. Smart factory dioramas illustrated Hyundai’s commitment to advanced manufacturing processes as part of their broader strategy for sustainable mobility solutions.
Sungwon Jee from Hyundai Motor Company outlined how IONIQ 9 represents an evolution within their brand values. The Terrace Talk program facilitated discussions between guests about these values alongside insights from tech content creator Judner Aura and LA entertainment reporter Amanda Salas.
