Hyundai Motor America Reports Record-Breaking October 2024 Sales With Strong Demand For Electrified Vehicles
Hyundai Motor America achieved a record-breaking October with total sales reaching 71,802 units, marking an 18% increase from the previous year. Retail sales also hit new heights, rising by 15%. The Tucson HEV led the charge with its best-ever total and retail sales for the month. Hybrid vehicle sales saw a significant boost, climbing by 91% compared to October last year.
Randy Parker, CEO of Hyundai Motor America, stated, "Hyundai has set a total sales record in the month of October for the third consecutive year." He highlighted that models like the Santa Fe HEV, Tucson HEV, and IONIQ 5 were instrumental in driving demand for Hyundai's electrified vehicles. These models are known for their advanced technology and appealing design.

In addition to strong sales figures, Hyundai is making strides in electric vehicle innovation. The company recently unveiled teaser images of its upcoming IONIQ 9. This three-row all-electric SUV represents a new chapter in Hyundai's commitment to electrification. The brand continues to push forward with its vision for spacious EV design.
Hyundai's efforts have not gone unnoticed. The automaker was named the most awarded automaker in Cars.com's 2025 Top Pick EV Awards. Notably, the IONIQ 6 received accolades as the Top Pick for Electric Car and Value EV. Meanwhile, the IONIQ 5 was recognised as the Top Pick for a two-row electric SUV.
The company has also entered into a strategic partnership with Waymo. This collaboration will see Waymo’s autonomous technology integrated into Hyundai’s all-electric IONIQ 5 SUV. Over time, this model will join the Waymo One fleet, showcasing Hyundai's commitment to advancing autonomous driving technology.

José Muñoz, President and Global COO of Hyundai Motor Company, was honoured as a Visionary Leader at Reuters Events' 2024 Automotive D.R.I.V.E Honours. Additionally, Randy Parker was recognised by Automotive News as a Champion of Diversity for 2024. These accolades reflect Hyundai's leadership in both innovation and diversity within the automotive industry.
Hyundai is also active in community support initiatives. In response to recent hurricanes in the U.S., Hyundai Motor America announced a comprehensive relief program. This initiative involves collaboration with Genesis Motor America and various manufacturing facilities to aid affected communities.
Motorsport Collaborations and Safety Campaigns
The company has partnered with Toyota Motor Corporation to host the inaugural ‘Hyundai N x TOYOTA GAZOO Racing Festival’ at Yongin Speedway in Korea. This event aims to promote motorsport culture through collaboration between two major automotive brands.
To raise awareness about safe driving among teenagers, Hyundai teamed up with actress Julie Bowen for a social media series during Teen Driver Safety Week. The series features Bowen alongside her sons discussing safety tips on platforms like TikTok and Instagram.
Sales Performance Across Models
The Elantra saw a notable increase in sales with a rise of 29%, while Sonata sales surged by an impressive 156%. However, some models like Kona and Venue experienced declines of 28% and 18%, respectively. Despite these fluctuations, overall year-to-date sales have shown positive growth compared to last year.
