Hyundai Motor America Achieves Record-Breaking Sales In November 2024 With Significant Growth In EVs

Hyundai Motor America achieved record-breaking sales in November 2024, with a total of 76,008 units sold. This marks an 8% increase compared to the same month in 2023. Retail sales also saw a significant rise, climbing 15%. The company reported notable growth in electric vehicle (EV) and hybrid sales, with EV retail sales up by 77% and hybrid retail sales increasing by 104% year-over-year.

Several Hyundai models set new sales records in November. The Santa Fe HEV saw a 64% increase, while the Tucson PHEV and Tucson HEV experienced growth of 23% and 227%, respectively. The IONIQ 5's sales surged by 110%, and the Elantra N's sales rose by 140%. Overall, hybrid vehicle sales jumped by 114%, and total EV sales grew by 70%, marking the best-ever month for these models.

Randy Parker, CEO of Hyundai Motor America, stated, "Hyundai delivered an exceptional sales month, driven by the strong performance of our EV and hybrid vehicles. Customers continue to be attracted to Hyundai’s diverse vehicle lineup which can meet a variety of customer needs. We also saw significant interest and excitement for the worldwide debut of the U.S.-built IONIQ 9 and we can’t wait to bring it to market next year."

In November, Hyundai introduced the IONIQ 9, a three-row all-electric SUV known for its spacious interior and advanced EV technology. Additionally, José Muñoz was appointed as President and CEO of Hyundai Motor Company (HMC), effective January 1, 2025. He will succeed Jaehoon Chang, who has been promoted to Vice Chair of Hyundai Motor Group’s Automotive Division.

The company's achievements extend beyond sales figures. The all-new Santa Fe was named a finalist for the prestigious North American Utility of the Year Award at AutoMobility LA 2024. Furthermore, U.S. News & World Report recognised Hyundai as the Best SUV Brand for 2025.

The IONIQ 5 N won Road & Track's Performance EV of the Year Award in the "Under $100,000" category. Meanwhile, the Kona Electric received J.D. Power's Best-in-Class Residual Value Award in the Mainstream EV SUV segment for 2025. The Santa Fe also excelled in J.D. Power's Multimedia Quality and Customer Satisfaction Study among midsize/large vehicles.

The Santa Cruz XRT was named Compact Truck of Texas at the Texas Auto Writers Association's Truck Rodeo held in September. Additionally, the Santa Fe earned recognition as Family Vehicle of the Year from Hispanic Motor Press Awards for its advancements in technology and safety features.

Economic Impact and Future Plans

Hyundai Motor America contributes significantly to the U.S. economy with operations including its headquarters in California and manufacturing plants like Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Alabama. These efforts support over $20 billion annually and provide approximately 190,000 jobs nationwide through its network of dealers.

The company announced pricing details for its updated U.S.-made IONIQ 5 lineup for 2025. This refreshed model is expected to arrive at dealerships by year-end with improved driving ranges and charging times.
