Hyundai Sees Sales Rise In June And Second Quarter Of 2024 Amidst Automotive Growth

Hyundai Motor America reported a 2.5% decline in total June sales, with 67,631 units sold compared to June 2023. Despite this, the company achieved record sales for several models, including the Elantra HEV, Elantra N, IONIQ 5, Santa Fe HEV, Tucson HEV, and Palisade. Hybrid sales surged by 39% in June, and green vehicle sales accounted for 26% of retail.

In Q2 2024, Hyundai sold 214,719 units, marking a 2.2% increase from Q2 2023. The first half of the year saw a total of 399,523 units sold, reflecting a 1.2% rise compared to the same period last year. Hybrid sales for the quarter rose by 42%, while pure EV sales increased by 15%. SUVs made up 75% of the retail mix.

Hyundai's Q2 Sales Up Amid Growth

Randy Parker, CEO of Hyundai Motor America, commented on the company's performance: "Once again in the face of yet another industry crisis the Hyundai dealers showed their resiliency by closing Q2 with a 2.2% increase in total sales, resulting in a 1.2% increase for the first half of the year." He attributed this success to strong demand for models like IONIQ 5 and hybrid versions of Tucson and Santa Fe.

The Hyundai Metaplant announced that its first production vehicle will be the 2025 Hyundai IONIQ 5. Additionally, Hyundai's Santa Cruz was ranked as America's Best Midsize Pickup in initial quality by J.D. Power's 2024 U.S. Initial Quality Study (IQS). The brand also finished third among mass-market automakers in this study.

Hyundai's MyHyundai with Bluelink app topped J.D. Power's 2024 U.S. OEM EV Mobile App Report among mass-market automakers' EV applications. Furthermore, Hyundai Motor America was named 'OEM of the Year' by WardsAuto at the AutoTech Detroit Conference.

The IONIQ 5 saw a notable increase in sales with a jump of 20% in June and a significant rise of 51% in Q2 compared to last year. The Palisade also performed well with a remarkable increase of 57% in June and a substantial growth of 44% in Q2.

Awards and Achievements

Hyundai received two favourite vehicle awards from the Midwest Automotive Media Association (MAMA) during their Spring Rally event. The all-electric IONIQ 5 N was named Favourite Performance Vehicle, while the Santa Fe was recognised as Favourite Family Vehicle.

The IONIQ 5 N set benchmarks at the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb on June 23rd by setting records in both Electric Modified and Production SUV/Crossover categories.

Community Engagement

Hyundai Motor America partnered with Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago to host its third child safety seat check event during this year's Move for Kids walk at Busse Woods Forest Preserve in Elk Grove Village, Illinois.

Motorsport Success

Hyundai secured its first IMSA victory of the year at Mid-Ohio with the No.76 Elantra N TCR winning Sunday’s O’Reilly Auto Parts Four Hours race. Additionally, Team Americas' Elantra N TCR won its fourth consecutive Nürburgring 24 Hours race.
