Hyundai's July 2024 Sales Surge With Hybrid And Electric Vehicles Leading The Charge

Hyundai Motor America reported a 4% increase in total July sales, reaching 69,202 units compared to the same month last year. This growth was driven by strong performances from hybrid and electric vehicles. Retail sales of electric, hybrid, and plug-in hybrid vehicles made up 25% of the retail mix, with IONIQ 5 retail sales rising by 1.4%. Sonata and Palisade also saw significant retail sales increases of 65% and 41%, respectively.

"Despite a challenging start to July as the CDK disruption began to resolve, Hyundai achieved a solid 4% increase in total sales, fueled by our HEV and EV lineup," said Randy Parker, CEO, Hyundai Motor America. "Our overall total sales results in July reflect the sustained consumer demand for diversified product portfolio."

Hyundai July Sales Up with EV Focus

Hyundai set new records for Elantra HEV (+13%), Santa Fe HEV (+75%), Tucson HEV (+109%), and Palisade (+50%) in July. The company’s total hybrid sales surged by 67%. This was also the best month ever for Tucson HEV in both retail and total sales.

Year-to-date (YTD) figures showed an increase of 2%, with total sales reaching 468,725 units compared to 461,140 units during the same period last year. The following table summarises the July total sales:

José Muñoz, President and Global COO of Hyundai Motor Company, was honoured as Executive of the Year by the New England Motor Press Association (NEMPA). This accolade was presented at NEMPA's annual award ceremony held in Boston.

Hyundai has restructured its U.S. marketing team into two new divisions: marketing creative and marketing performance. Additionally, Hyundai announced changes to its lineup for the 2025 model year.

Marketing Initiatives

During the start of the 2024 Summer Games, Hyundai launched a new advertisement titled "It’s OK." This sports-themed ad emphasises finding joy in one's journey even if it means taking a break from playing a particular sport to try something new.

The company also introduced a campaign called "Quality Isn’t a Luxury," which highlights the quality, dependability, reliability, and safety of its vehicles.

Awards and Recognitions

The 2024 Hyundai Santa Fe was named the most appealing vehicle in the midsize SUV segment by J.D. Power’s U.S. Automotive Performance, Execution and Layout (APEAL) StudySM. Additionally, American Cars and Racing recognised the all-new 2024 Santa Fe as the Best U.S.-Built SUV.

Pricing Updates

Hyundai released pricing details for its refreshed 2025 Tucson compact SUV. The starting price is set at $29,750, which includes a $1,395 destination charge.

Community Support

In support of child passenger and pedestrian safety programs, Hyundai donated $100,000 to Children’s Hospital Los Angeles (CHLA). This contribution will aid CHLA's Injury Prevention and Child Passenger Safety Program.
