Hyundai Motor Company Celebrates Production Of 100 Million Vehicles Worldwide
Hyundai Motor Company has reached a remarkable milestone, producing 100 million vehicles globally. This achievement took just 57 years, highlighting Hyundai's rapid growth in the automotive sector. The company celebrated this occasion at its Ulsan Plant in Korea, where it delivered the 100 millionth vehicle, an IONIQ 5, to a customer during a special ceremony.
The Ulsan Plant holds historical significance as it began operations in 1968 and is considered the birthplace of Korea's automobile industry. It produced Korea's first mass-produced model, the Pony, in 1975. Today, the plant is central to Hyundai's electrification efforts and is developing a dedicated electric vehicle (EV) facility.
Hyundai Motor is committed to leading the future era of electrification. The company's President and Head of Domestic Productions, Dong Seock Lee, stated that every employee contributed to reaching this milestone through hard work and dedication. This achievement marks just the beginning of Hyundai's journey towards electrification.
Jaehoon Chang, President and CEO of Hyundai Motor Company, expressed gratitude to customers worldwide for their support. "Reaching global cumulative production of 100 million vehicles is a meaningful milestone that was possible thanks to our customers around the world who have chosen and supported Hyundai Motor since the very beginning," he said.
Hyundai's global presence has expanded significantly with production facilities in Turkey, India, the U.S., and the Czech Republic. These facilities have contributed to record achievements, including surpassing 50 million vehicles manufactured in 2013. Last year, Hyundai established the Hyundai Motor Group Global Innovation Center Singapore (HMGICS), a smart urban mobility hub.
The company continues to innovate by introducing advanced technologies like artificial intelligence (AI), robotics, and smart factories. These innovations will be integrated into future production sites such as Hyundai Motor Group Metaplant America (HMGMA) to enhance production efficiency.

Hyundai remains dedicated to sustainability by investing in zero-emission vehicles with hydrogen fuel cell and EV technologies. The company aims to transform into a Smart Mobility Solution Provider under its brand vision 'Progress for Humanity.' This involves tackling real-world mobility challenges with innovative solutions.
The launch of premium brands like Genesis and high-performance brand N has fueled Hyundai's continuous growth. The introduction of EVs such as the IONIQ 5 based on the E-GMP platform further demonstrates Hyundai's commitment to innovation and excellence.
