Hyundai Sets Up National School Trips Week To Benefit UK Students

A recent study commissioned by Hyundai Motor UK has unveiled a concerning statistic: 27% of UK pupils have missed out on school trips this academic year. The research identifies funding issues (64%) and staff shortages (40%) as primary obstacles preventing these educational outings. In a proactive move, Hyundai is set to launch National School Trips Week and expand its Great British School Trip (GBST) programme by an additional 25,000 places, aiming to support 60,000 children throughout the 2023/2024 academic year. This expansion will elevate the total number of beneficiaries to 90,000 since the programme's inception in January 2023.

National School Trips Week, scheduled to commence on 29 April, promises over 40 educational experiences nationwide, catering to nearly 9,000 pupils. Esteemed venues such as English Heritage, PGL, Eureka!, and the Royal Air Force Museum London are among the participating locations. This initiative not only seeks to alleviate the logistical challenges faced by educators but also aims to enrich pupils' creative learning—a goal underscored by the finding that 78% of teachers view school trips as vital for creative education and development.

Hyundai Boosts UK School Trips

The significance of fostering creativity through school trips is further highlighted by the overwhelming 97% of teachers who see these excursions as beneficial for creative growth. However, the same study points out that organizing trips with a creative focus remains a challenge for 78% of educators. Moreover, reflecting on their school experience, 72% of recent school leavers expressed a desire for more engagement in creative subjects, with 18% acknowledging a deficiency in "creative thinking."

In response to these challenges, Hyundai's commitment extends beyond just increasing the number of available trip slots. The company has also pledged ongoing support through bursaries designed to assist schools in need. These funds aim to cover essential expenses such as booking fees and travel costs, thereby ensuring that financial constraints do not hinder educational opportunities.

Through initiatives like National School Trips Week and the GBST programme, Hyundai Motor UK is taking significant steps towards enhancing the educational landscape for UK pupils. By breaking down barriers to access and emphasizing the importance of creativity in learning, these efforts are poised to make a lasting impact on students' development and educational experiences.
