Hyundai Ioniq Concept Seven Targets Electric SUV Market With Global Debut

Hyundai is set to enter the three-row electric SUV market with the Ioniq Concept Seven, which will debut in the US before expanding globally. The production model will feature a blend of boxy and curvy design elements, aligning with Hyundai's current SUV aesthetics.

Shared Platform and Powertrain

The Ioniq Concept Seven will share its platform and powertrain with the Kia EV9. Both models have similar dimensions and are expected to offer six-seat and seven-seat configurations. However, Hyundai is likely to provide more six-seat variants compared to Kia.

Unveiled in 2021, the Concept Seven has a silhouette reminiscent of the EV9 concept car. The production version will be slightly more conventional but will retain key design cues from Hyundai's existing SUV lineup.

Potential Indian Market Introduction

Although not officially confirmed, it is anticipated that the Concept Seven will be named the Ioniq 9, marking its position at the top of Hyundai's range. This vehicle might arrive in India by 2026 as part of Hyundai India's future offerings.

The primary aim for launching this model in India would be to establish brand presence rather than achieve high sales volumes. Priced around Rs. 90 lakh, it is expected to be a Completely Built Unit (CBU).

"The Concept Seven is expected to share its powertrain, feature list, and practicality with the EV9 as is the case with most shared products in the Hyundai-Kia universe," according to industry sources.

This move aligns with Hyundai's strategy to expand its electric vehicle lineup and cater to different market segments globally. The Ioniq 9 will likely emphasize luxury and advanced features, appealing to premium buyers.

The introduction of such high-end electric SUVs indicates a growing trend among automakers to diversify their electric vehicle portfolios. By offering both six-seat and seven-seat options, Hyundai aims to attract families looking for spacious and eco-friendly alternatives.

As electric vehicles gain popularity worldwide, manufacturers like Hyundai are investing heavily in developing versatile models that can meet various consumer needs. The Ioniq 9 represents a significant step in this direction.

The global rollout of the Ioniq Concept Seven underscores Hyundai's commitment to innovation and sustainability in the automotive industry. With its advanced technology and design, it aims to set new standards for electric SUVs.

The production-ready Ioniq 9 will likely incorporate state-of-the-art features and cutting-edge technology, making it a competitive option in the premium electric SUV segment.

This strategic move by Hyundai highlights its ambition to lead in the electric vehicle market while catering to diverse customer preferences across different regions. The potential launch of the Ioniq 9 in India reflects Hyundai's broader vision of establishing a strong foothold in emerging markets while promoting sustainable mobility solutions globally.
