Hyundai IONIQ 9 Electric SUV Launch: A New Era Of Spacious EV Mobility
Hyundai Motor Company has introduced the IONIQ 9, a three-row electric SUV, at the Goldstein House in Los Angeles. This launch highlights Hyundai's dedication to innovation and leadership in electric vehicles. The IONIQ 9 offers expansive interior space, advanced technology, and a unique design, aiming to enhance the passenger experience.
The IONIQ 9 stands out with its 'Aerosthetic' design, featuring a streamlined roof and flush surfaces. Its exterior includes Parametric Pixels in LED lights and a smooth roofline for improved aerodynamics. The vehicle's silhouette is sleek, with a low drag coefficient of 0.259 Cd when equipped with digital side mirrors.
The interior of the IONIQ 9 is designed for comfort and functionality. It features Relaxation Seats that can recline fully, offering leg rests for optimal comfort during charging stops. The Swiveling Seats in the second row allow passengers to face each other, enhancing interaction.
The IONIQ 9 is built on Hyundai's Electric-Global Modular Platform (E-GMP), which supports fast charging from 10% to 80% in just 24 minutes. The high-capacity battery provides a projected range of 620 km according to WLTP standards. The SUV also includes Hyundai AI Assistant for voice recognition and an EV Route Planner for efficient travel.
Under the hood, the IONIQ 9 offers different motor configurations: Long-Range RWD with a single rear motor, Long-Range AWD with an additional front motor, and Performance AWD with dual motors. These options cater to various performance needs, including rapid acceleration capabilities.
Sustainability and Safety
Sustainability is a key focus for the IONIQ 9, using eco-friendly materials like recycled PET fabric and bio-based paints. The SUV also incorporates advanced safety features such as Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist and Lane Keeping Assist to ensure driver and passenger safety.
The vehicle's structure is reinforced for maximum battery protection during collisions. It includes ten airbags and seat belt pre-tensioners for enhanced safety across all rows. These measures aim to provide peace of mind for occupants.
Market Availability
The IONIQ 9 will be available in Korea and the United States by mid-2025, followed by Europe and other regions later. Hyundai plans to offer various optional upgrades alongside standard features to meet diverse customer preferences.
