Hyundai IONIQ 5 N Secures Spot In Wards 10 Best Engines & Propulsion Systems For 2024
The Hyundai IONIQ 5 N has been honoured with a spot on the 2024 Wards 10 Best Engines & Propulsion Systems list. This vehicle utilises Hyundai’s Electric-Global Modular Platform (E-GMP), which supports dual motors, maximises interior space, and enhances performance with N technologies. Since the awards began in 1995, Hyundai has received this recognition 17 times.
WardsAuto, a leading provider of automotive insights and analysis for over 90 years, organises these awards to highlight exceptional powertrain achievements. The competition focuses on products that excel in range, fuel economy, and advanced technologies. This year marks the 30th anniversary of the awards, with 34 nominees competing for the prestigious titles.
Evaluations for the 2024 Wards 10 Best Engines & Propulsion Systems took place during summer 2024. Judges experienced the vehicles in their daily driving routines, assessing new or significantly updated propulsion systems based on performance and enhancements. There is no price cap for entries, but overall value is considered.
Bob Gritzinger, Wards Editor-in-Chief and judge, praised the IONIQ 5 N: "What’s not to love? This is a stellar example of what an engineering team can do with a battery-electric vehicle when given carte blanche to make it look, feel, sound and perform like its internal-combustion brethren."
Christie Schweinsberg, another judge, expressed her excitement: "Holy cow – the G forces on my body! Yowza! Crazy! I felt like I was getting a facelift." Drew Winter added that the IONIQ 5 N offers engaging new driving experiences for performance enthusiasts by emulating sounds and haptic feedback from internal-combustion engines.
The award ceremony will take place on October 10, 2024, during The Battery Show at Huntington Place in Detroit. This event celebrates outstanding powertrain achievements and recognises the teams behind them.
