Hyundai IONIQ 5 N Wins Title As World’s Best Electric Performance Car
The Hyundai IONIQ 5 N has recently been awarded the title of the best electric performance car globally by CAR Magazine, a prestigious accolade that underscores the vehicle's superior capabilities and design. This recognition came after a competitive evaluation involving seven cars at the renowned Nürburgring circuit in Germany. The IONIQ 5 N emerged victorious over its competitors, including those from well-established premium and electric-vehicle (EV) exclusive brands, despite the latter featuring significantly higher price points.
CAR Magazine lauded the IONIQ 5 N for its exhilarating performance, likening it to a homage to traditional combustion-engined sports cars. The vehicle was celebrated for its dynamic handling, with particular emphasis on its sharp turn-in, precise steering, and exceptional chassis balance. Additionally, it was noted for its unique ability to emulate the auditory experience of a turbocharged petrol engine, adding to its appeal as a performance EV.
At the core of the IONIQ 5 N's impressive performance is Hyundai's Electrified-Global Modular Platform (E-GMP), shared with the standard IONIQ 5 model but enhanced with technology from Hyundai's high-performance N division. This includes a powertrain optimized for improved battery cooling and braking performance. The car boasts an output of up to 609 PS under normal conditions, which can be increased to 650 PS with the activation of the N Grin Boost (NGB) feature. This allows the IONIQ 5 N to accelerate from 0-62mph in just 3.4 seconds and achieve a top speed of 161mph.
Further distinguishing the IONIQ 5 N are its advanced driving features such as the N Pedal for superior cornering capabilities and fully variable front and rear N Torque Distribution, enhancing its performance credentials.
