Hyundai CNG Car Lineup To Grow With Innovative Dual-Cylinder Technology
Hyundai has filed a new trademark for what appears to be a dual-cylinder technology for its CNG cars. The carmaker currently offers factory-fitted CNG kits in three models: Exter, Aura, and Grand i10 Nios. These models currently feature a single cylinder placed in the boot.
The dual-cylinder setup is expected to enhance boot space in Hyundai's CNG cars like the Exter, Aura, and Grand i10 Nios. This technology essentially uses two smaller CNG cylinders instead of one large cylinder, thereby increasing available boot space compared to conventional single-cylinder CNG cars.

Hy-CNG and Hy-CNG Duo Trademarks
In May this year, Hyundai trademarked the names Hy-CNG and Hy-CNG Duo. The former likely represents the company's new naming system for its CNG cars, while the latter hints at the introduction of dual-cylinder technology. Tata Motors was the first to introduce twin-cylinder tanks for its CNG cars a year ago. This technology is now available in all its CNG models, including Altroz, Tiago, Punch, and Tigor.
The Grand i10 Nios is currently the most affordable CNG car in India, with prices starting from Rs 7.68 lakh. The Aura CNG is priced between Rs 8.31 lakh and Rs 9.05 lakh, while the Exter CNG ranges from Rs 8.43 lakh to Rs 9.16 lakh. All prices are ex-showroom India.

Potential New Features
It remains to be seen if Hyundai will introduce new features alongside the dual-cylinder technology or expand its CNG lineup with more variants. As of now, Hyundai has not confirmed any details regarding these developments.
Tata Motors is currently the only manufacturer in India offering dual-cylinder CNG technology. This advancement could potentially set a new standard for other carmakers in the country.
The introduction of dual-cylinder technology by Hyundai could significantly enhance boot space in their CNG models, making them more practical for everyday use. This move could also make Hyundai's CNG cars more competitive in the market.
Hyundai's initiative to file trademarks for Hy-CNG and Hy-CNG Duo indicates their commitment to innovation in the CNG segment. This development could lead to more efficient and user-friendly options for consumers looking for eco-friendly vehicles.
As Hyundai continues to explore this new technology, it will be interesting to see how it impacts their market share and consumer preferences in India’s growing automobile sector.
