Hyundai Elantra N TCR Secures Double Podium Finish At Watkins Glen

Hyundai's No. 33 Hyundai Elantra N TCR, driven by Robert Wickens and Harry Gottsacker, made an impressive comeback from last place to secure second at The Esses 120. This performance was part of the 2024 IMSA Michelin Pilot Championship (IMPC) season, held at Watkins Glen International.

Despite starting from the back due to a penalty in qualifying, Gottsacker quickly advanced the No. 33 car to second place early in the race. The team led for 21 laps before Wickens finished just two seconds behind the winner.

The No. 76 Hyundai Elantra N TCR, driven by Preston Brown and Denis Dupont, also delivered a strong performance. Starting tenth, Brown navigated early cautions effectively, placing the car in the top five. Dupont's overtaking skills secured third place as the race concluded.

Hyundai's dominance continued with the No. 98 and No. 77 cars finishing fourth and fifth respectively. The No. 99 Victor Gonzalez Racing Team car faced fueling issues but managed to finish tenth.

Following this round, Hyundai remains closely contested in the Manufacturers’ Championship, trailing by only 70 points from the lead. The next challenge awaits at Canadian Tire Motorsports Park on July 13, 2024.

The event saw Hyundai raise $2,200 for Hyundai Hope on Wheels after leading for a total of 22 laps. This initiative pledges $100 for every lap led by a Hyundai Elantra N TCR throughout the season.
