Extended Waiting Period For Hyundai Creta: Surge In Demand

Hyundai India's total pending orders stand at 65,000 units this month, with the Creta dominating the list. Since launching the facelift in January, Creta's sales have surged, though this has led to an order backlog now down to 33,000 units.

The Hyundai Creta's popularity can be attributed to its updated design, enhanced features, and competitive pricing in the market. The strong demand has resulted in an extended waiting period for customers, highlighting the brand's strong position in the Indian automotive market. Creta’s Engine Options and Waiting Period

The Creta comes with two petrol and one diesel engine option. The waiting period for both the Creta and the sporty Creta N Line is about 10 weeks. The backlog has decreased by around 2,000 units compared to April, when it was 35,000 units.

Sales Figures and Market Position

Hyundai sold 14,662 units of the Creta in May 2024. The average monthly sales are at 15,000 units. First-time buyers of the Creta have doubled from 14% in 2021 to 28% in 2024. The Creta competes with the Kia Seltos, Maruti Grand Vitara, Toyota Hyryder, Skoda Kushaq, Volkswagen Taigun, and Honda Elevate.

Pricing and Specifications

The Creta is priced from Rs 13.48 lakh to Rs 24.47 lakh (ex-showroom). It is available with a 115hp, 1.5-litre NA petrol; 160hp, 1.5-litre turbo-petrol; and 116hp, 1.5-litre diesel engines.

The Creta will soon get an EV powertrain, with production set to start by the end of this year. It will compete with the Maruti eVX, Tata Curvv EV, and MG ZS EV.
