Hyundai Creta Leads India's Sub-Compact SUV Segment With Over 200,000 Sales In 2024
The Hyundai Creta has emerged as the leading vehicle in India's sub-compact SUV segment for 2024. According to JATO Dynamics Limited, a firm known for automotive research, the Creta achieved impressive sales figures. By the year's end, it sold 1,87,200 units. With an expected additional 13,000 units in December, sales might exceed 2,00,000 units.
In the competitive Indian market, the Hyundai Creta faces rivals like the MG Astor, Maruti Grand Vitara, Toyota Hyryder, Skoda Kushaq, Volkswagen Taigun, Honda Elevate, and Citroën C3 Aircross.

Each competitor offers unique features and specifications, making this segment highly competitive. Despite this competition, the Creta stands out with its advanced features and variety of models.
The Hyundai Creta is available in seven variants: E, EX, S, S(O), SX, SX Tech, and SX(O). These options cater to diverse customer preferences. Each model includes level-2 ADAS among its 70 advanced features. This highlights Hyundai's focus on safety and innovation. The base E variant maintains aesthetic appeal and performance with a distinctive grille and inverted L-shaped LED DRLs.
Inside the base model of the Hyundai Creta, one can observe a sophisticated design philosophy typical of luxury vehicles. The interior layout is consistent across all models. Although it lacks an infotainment system, it offers manual climate control, USB ports at both ends, and a digital instrument cluster similar to the i20 i-Turbo.
The new Hyundai Creta E base model provides two engine choices: NA petrol and diesel. Both engines are paired with a 6-speed manual gearbox. This range ensures that customers can select based on their performance needs and fuel efficiency preferences. Practical features include power windows throughout, central locking, adjustable headrests, rear AC vents, and fabric seats.
An exciting development for Hyundai is the upcoming electric version of the Creta. This model will debut at the India Mobility Global Expo 2025 in January 2025. The electric variant signifies Hyundai's commitment to addressing future challenges and meeting evolving consumer demands.
Future Prospects for Hyundai Creta
The introduction of an electric variant underscores Hyundai's forward-thinking approach and dedication to innovation. This move aligns with their strategy to offer solutions that cater to changing customer needs while maintaining their market position.
The success of the Hyundai Creta in the Indian market is a testament to the blend of its appealing features, versatility, and competitive positioning. With its impressive sales figures and the upcoming launch of the electric variant, the Creta continues to solidify its dominance in the sub-compact SUV segment."
