Hyundai Canada And Partners Raise Over $12,000 To Combat Homelessness In York Region
Hyundai Auto Canada (HAC) collaborated with Scotiabank, Industrial Alliance, Hyundai Capital Canada, and various vendor partners to aid those facing homelessness in York Region. They raised $12,099 during the annual Hockey Helps the Homeless tournament. This marks the third consecutive year of Hyundai Canada's participation in this national initiative, which uses hockey to raise awareness and funds for homeless support.
All proceeds from the event are directed to 360°kids and Blue Door. Since joining the tournament in 2022, Hyundai Canada and its partners have collectively raised over $44,000. Steve Flamand, executive director of national sales and digital strategy at Hyundai Canada, expressed gratitude for the support received from their vendor partners. "This is not just a group of vendors and clients coming together for a good cause, but colleagues on a personal level rallying to help the community at a particularly difficult time of year," he stated.
The tournament took place on December 13, 2024, at the Magma Centre in Markham, Ontario. Kirk Merrett, director of human resources and administration at Hyundai Canada and board member of 360°kids, emphasized their commitment to supporting local causes. "York region has been the home of Hyundai Canada since the company started operating in Canada over 40 years ago. We feel a sense of pride and responsibility to support such a crucial cause so close to home," he said.
Hyundai Canada's involvement is rooted in its ongoing charitable partnership with 360°kids. This organization focuses on preventing youth homelessness in York Region by equipping young people with skills and resources for independence. The funds raised will provide essential life necessities during a critical time of year.
The list of donors supporting Team Hyundai includes Hyundai Capital, Scotiabank, Industrial Alliance, Precision Graphics, Kanvas Studio, PBS Systems, Keyloop, and JD Power. Their contributions highlight a collective effort to address homelessness challenges within the community.
