Hyundai Canada Achieves New Sales Milestone With IONIQ 5 In July
Hyundai Auto Canada Corp. announced total sales of 11,301 units for July, marking a 13% increase compared to the same month last year. The KONA, ELANTRA, and TUCSON models led the sales figures with 2,341, 2,075, and 1,850 units sold respectively. The KONA has maintained its position as the top-selling vehicle for seven consecutive months.
Hyundai's electrified fleet showed significant growth in July with 3,836 units sold. This figure represents nearly 34% of the total sales volume for the month. The IONIQ 5 had an impressive performance with a record 1,218 units sold, reflecting a year-over-year increase of 107.5%. Other fully-electric models like the Kona Electric and IONIQ 6 also saw double-digit increases in their sales.

The company’s hybrid and plug-in hybrid models contributed to this positive trend. However, some models like the TUCSON HEV experienced a decline in sales by 40.3%, while others like the SANTA FE HEV saw a modest increase of 1.3%. Overall, electrified vehicle sales rose by 9.9% compared to July last year.
For the year-to-date period up to July, Hyundai Auto Canada reported total sales of 77,309 units. This represents a substantial increase of 17.9% compared to the same period last year when they sold 65,599 units.
The IONIQ 5 continued its strong performance with year-to-date sales reaching 5,601 units, almost doubling from last year's figure of 2,873 units. The KONA also showed remarkable growth with a year-to-date increase of 75.4%, selling 20,313 units compared to last year's 11,579 units.
Model-Specific Insights
The ELANTRA model saw a slight decline in its year-to-date sales by 4%, selling 11,716 units compared to last year's figure of 12,208 units. On the other hand, the PALISADE model experienced a significant surge with a year-over-year increase of over 112%, selling 938 units in July alone.
The VENUE model posted an increase of 8.1% in July sales compared to last year but showed a slight decline in its year-to-date performance by -2%. Similarly, the SANTA CRUZ model saw a decrease in both monthly and yearly figures by -19.4% and -29.8% respectively.
