Hyundai Canada Celebrates Best Sales Month In May 2024, Electric Models Shine
Hyundai Auto Canada Corp. reported a significant increase in sales for May 2024, with a total of 13,000 units sold. This marks a 31.7 per cent year-over-year increase and the best sales month since June 2021. The top-selling models for May were the KONA (3,124 units), TUCSON (2,759 units), and ELANTRA (2,025 units).
The IONIQ 5, which won the 2022 World Car of the Year award, also had a record-setting month with 993 units sold. The KONA ELECTRIC saw a year-over-year increase of 59.3 per cent with 940 units sold. Hyundai’s electrified fleet continued to gain momentum in May, with 4,047 units sold, representing nearly 32 per cent of the total sales volume.

The TUCSON HEV led the electrified lineup with 1,087 units sold in May. Other notable electrified vehicle sales included the SANTA FE HEV (369 units), IONIQ 6 (302 units), and ELANTRA HEV (203 units). The overall electrified vehicle sales saw a year-over-year increase of 34.7 per cent.

The KONA model saw a significant increase of 108.5 per cent in May sales compared to the previous year, with 3,124 units sold. The TUCSON also performed well with a 21.8 per cent increase in sales. However, some models like the SANTA FE and PALISADE experienced declines in their year-over-year sales figures.
