Comprehensive Look: Hyundai Alcazar Facelift Vs Creta

The Hyundai Alcazar facelift, drawing inspiration from the Creta facelift launched this year, aims to distinguish itself more clearly from its 5-seater sibling. The Alcazar, a stretched three-row version of the Creta, now features significant updates, particularly in the second-row seats. This article examines the similarities and differences between the two models.

Exterior Design

The previous versions of the Alcazar Creta had minor differences at the front, such as variations in the grille, LED Daytime Running Lamps, and bumper. The new Alcazar facelift introduces a distinct grille, unique LED daytime running lamps, and a chunkier front bumper that sets it apart from the Creta.

However, at the rear, both models appear more similar than before. While they have different LED tail-light signatures and rear bumpers, an illuminated LED strip connecting the tail-lights makes them look quite alike. In profile, the Alcazar stands out with larger 18-inch alloy wheels compared to Creta's 17-inch units and functional roof rails.

Interior Design and Features

Inside the cabin, cosmetic differences are minimal. The Alcazar features dark blue and tan colour schemes, while the Creta uses grey and black. Subtle differences include gloss black and silver trims on elements like the centre console and steering wheel. Both SUVs share standout features such as twin connected screens, ventilated front seats, dual-zone climate control, and a panoramic sunroof.

The Alcazar offers a superior rear-seat experience compared to the Creta. Its 6-seater variants come with ventilated captain seats in the middle row that have extendable thigh support, winged headrests, and fold-out tray tables. Additionally, it includes a boss mode allowing second-row passengers to adjust the front passenger seat for more space. The 7-seater variants lack winged headrests and extendable thigh support but still offer two additional seats in the third row.

Powertrain Specifications

Both models share a 160hp 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine and a 116hp 1.5-litre diesel engine. A manual gearbox is standard for both; however, they also offer DCT for turbo-petrol and torque converter automatic options for diesel engines. The Creta additionally has a 115hp 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine with MT and CVT gearboxes.

The Alcazar does not include this base petrol engine due to its higher positioning compared to the Creta. Consequently, its starting price will be higher than that of equivalent Creta models.

Pricing Details

The current pricing for the Creta ranges between Rs 11 lakh and Rs 20.15 lakh (ex-showroom). The Alcazar is expected to command a premium over these prices due to its additional features and higher positioning in Hyundai's lineup. The price announcement for the Alcazar is scheduled for September 9.
