Hunter Lawrence Races New 2025 CRF450R At Unadilla MX For Early Debut

Team Honda HRC has been deeply involved in the development of the 2025 CRF450R, which has received positive feedback from various media outlets. During Media Day for Round 9 of the AMA Pro Motocross series, Team Honda HRC announced that Hunter Lawrence would race the new 2025 CRF450R at Unadilla MX. This new bike, introduced just two-and-a-half months ago at Pala, California, has already started arriving in Honda dealerships.

Hunter Lawrence and his brother Jett Lawrence have been enthusiastic about the new platform since they tested an early prototype nearly two years ago. Despite Jett currently being sidelined with a thumb injury, both brothers have contributed significantly to the bike's development. The 2025 CRF450R was developed with input from Team Honda HRC, the Lawrence brothers, and Team HRC in the MXGP Championship.

2025 CRF450R Debuts at Unadilla MX

"I'm pumped to race the new bike this weekend here at Unadilla," Hunter Lawrence said today. "I felt at home on the '25 the first time I rode it, and it was fun for Jett and me to have the opportunity to give our input in the development of the production bike. Now it's time to get to work on the factory version."

Typically, teams use current model-year bikes throughout the season. However, Hunter and his team believe that switching to the new model now will provide a competitive edge by allowing them to gather data and develop the factory version early. Hunter plans to race the 2025 CRF450R for the rest of the AMA Pro Motocross series and during the upcoming SuperMotocross series.

"We're proud of the success that the current CRF450R platform has enjoyed, winning all three AMA 450 Championships last year and following up with this year's AMA Supercross crown," said Team Honda HRC Manager Lars Lindstrom. "That said, we're super excited to get to work developing the factory version of the 2025 CRF450R. The engineers have done an incredible job with the new bike, and we're happy to see it performing well in media evaluations. We fully expect that with time, it will have a very successful record of its own."

The decision for an early debut is unusual but strategic. It aims to leverage Hunter's familiarity with Unadilla MX, where he won last year's overall in the 250 class and finished on the podium in 2022. This marks his first premier-class race at this track.
