Made In India Honda Elevate Launched In Japan: Sold As WR-V, All Details Here

Honda Cars India Ltd (HCIL) has achieved a significant milestone by exporting the India-made Elevate SUV to Japan, where it is sold as the Honda WR-V. This marks the first time HCIL has exported a vehicle to Japan, showcasing its strong manufacturing capabilities and global competitiveness.

The move indicates HCIL's confidence in its Indian-manufactured products' appeal to international markets. In Japan, the Honda WR-V is available in three trim levels: X, Z, and Z+. Prices range from JPY 2,098,800 for the base X model to JPY 2,489,300 for the top-spec Z+ variant, equating to approximately Rs. 11.55 lakh to Rs. 13.70 lakh.

This pricing strategy positions the India-spec Elevate as a pricier option, considering the WR-V in Japan exclusively offers a CVT gearbox, contrasting with the Elevate's manual transmission in its base variant.

The Honda WR-V in Japan is well-equipped even in its base X trim, featuring Honda Sensing ADAS, six airbags, full LED headlights, the Honda Connect telematics suite, auto climate control, a 7-inch instrument screen, IR and UV cut glass, and paddle shifters.

It measures 4,325 mm in length, 1,790 mm in width, and 1,650 mm in height, with a ground clearance of 195 mm. Both the Elevate and WR-V are powered by the same 1.5L 4-cylinder NA petrol engine, delivering 119.4bhp at 6,600 RPM and 142Nm of torque at 4,300 RPM.

Mr Takuya Tsumura, President and CEO of Honda Cars India Ltd, expressed pride in the launch of the Made-in-India Elevate as the WR-V in Japan. He highlighted the achievement as a testament to HCIL's manufacturing strength and the company's pivotal role in Honda's global strategy.

The success of the Elevate in the Indian market has bolstered HCIL's confidence in meeting the expectations of global customers with high-quality products and craftsmanship.

Thoughts About The Honda WR-V (Elevate)

The introduction of the WR-V in Japan signifies an important step in HCIL's efforts to expand its international footprint, further establishing the company's presence in the global automotive market. Also, we expect the new Honda WR-V to be well-received in the Japanese automobile market.
