Honda Expands Electric Offerings With New Ye Series

Japanese carmaker Honda is set to expand its electric vehicle (EV) lineup in China with the introduction of the Ye Series. Honda will unveil the three new EV models at the upcoming Beijing Motor Show nexct week.

These additions are part of a larger plan to launch six EVs in the Chinese market by 2027. The first half of this lineup includes the Ye GT concept, the Ye S7, and the Ye P7 crossovers, with the remaining three models to be revealed in the coming months.

The Ye Series is distinctive for adopting a new design language for Honda, including a flattened version of the traditional 'H' badge, now in white. The operations for these vehicles will be managed through Honda's partnerships with Dongfeng Honda and GAC Honda.

Honda s New Ye Series EVs in China

The Ye S7 and Ye P7 crossovers are anticipated to hit the market by the end of this year. Customers will have the option to choose between a single-motor, front-wheel drive, or a dual-motor, four-wheel drive setup. The rear-wheel drive versions are designed for sporty and crisp handling, whereas the four-wheel drive variants aim to enhance performance and responsiveness. Although interior designs remain under wraps, Honda has confirmed that both models will feature an LED instrument panel and an AI-powered assistant.

The GT Concept, a standout with its race driver seating position and an extra-wide windscreen, promises dynamic performance. Details about its powertrain are yet to be disclosed, but it is expected to be available for purchase before the end of 2025. The design philosophy behind the Ye models adheres to Honda's MM concept, which stands for 'Man Maximum, Machine Minimum', focusing on maximizing the joy of driving.

The introduction of the Ye Series aligns with Honda's strategy to strengthen its presence in the electric vehicle sector in China, a market that is rapidly shifting towards electric mobility.
