Honda Teams Up With PBTF To Support Pediatric Cancer Patients At Fort Worth SMX
This morning, Team Honda HRC Progressive unveiled special designs for their race bikes and riders at the second round of the SuperMotocross series. This initiative is part of their collaboration with the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation (PBTF). The PBTF, which has been working with Honda for over 30 years, is dedicated to supporting families affected by pediatric brain tumors.
The collaboration highlights the "Imaginary Friend Society," a group of cartoon characters created to help children understand complex cancer topics. These characters appear in 20 animated short films, making medical procedures less intimidating for young patients. Each Team Honda HRC Progressive rider is paired with a different Imaginary Friend character, featured on their gear and bike graphics.
At Texas Motor Speedway this weekend, Jett Lawrence is teamed up with "Mr. Spikes," a Tyrannosaurus Robot who explains blood transfusions. Hunter Lawrence partners with "Charlie," who describes MRIs as fancy photos inside the body. Chance Hymas is paired with "Blu," who shares tips on reducing fear and pain from shots. Jo Shimoda teams up with "Ninja," a white blood cell character who supports kids in various ways.
In addition to racing, Team Honda HRC Progressive has planned several activities with PBTF this weekend. Yesterday, patient families, fundraisers, and supporters attended a happy hour at Al Lamb's Dallas Honda. Today, riders and team members are visiting patients at Cook Children's Medical Center's Infusion Center near the race venue. Later today, participants will enjoy a truck tour and rider meet-and-greet.
Tomorrow, 12-year-old patient Travis and his family will spend the entire day hosted by the team. Brandon Wilson, American Honda Manager of Racing & Advertising, expressed pride in the partnership: "Our riders are extremely popular with many young fans, and we're proud that they're helping the Imaginary Friend Society deliver important messages to young patients."
Long-standing Partnership
Jeremy McGuire, American Honda Director of Customer Engagement, highlighted the long-standing partnership: "For over 30 years, American Honda has partnered with PBTF in supporting their mission to assist families affected by pediatric brain tumors." He added that it’s special to see riders representing Imaginary Friend Society characters on their gear and bikes.
Courtney Davies, PBTF President and CEO, also praised the collaboration: "We're thrilled to see Team Honda HRC Progressive bring our Imaginary Friend Society to life for the SuperMotocross World Championship." Following this event in Fort Worth, autographed special bodywork will be auctioned off to benefit PBTF.
