Honda Teams Up With Maersk For New Phoenix Distribution Center
American Honda has partnered with Maersk to open a new 150,000-square-foot distribution center in Phoenix, Arizona. This facility will support Honda's Powersports and Products division, enhancing service to the Southwestern U.S. dealer network. The center will handle warehousing and distribution for various recreational, utility, and outdoor equipment.
Previously, Honda serviced the Southwestern U.S. from Los Angeles. "Phoenix offers us excellent proximity to our dealer network, which enhances our ability to serve customers more efficiently," said John Stevens, Director of Powersports Sales Operations at American Honda. The new location aims to streamline operations and improve customer service.
The Maersk Contract Logistics Team activated operations at the Phoenix site within just 90 days of the December 2023 contract award. The fast activation included locating the facility, finalizing the lease, and taking delivery of initial stock. The facility commenced operations in March 2024.
The staff at the distribution center provides various value-added services such as coordinating distribution to Honda's regional dealer network, return management, light assembly, and quality control. These services aim to enhance operational efficiency and support Honda's business strategy in the region.

"Our distribution centers are a key node in the global chain of services we're able to provide to Honda, from ocean shipping and landside transportation to contract logistics."
Expanding Network
This Phoenix distribution center is Maersk's third facility actively supporting Honda's needs. In 2011, Maersk established facilities in Shreveport, Louisiana, followed by Kansas City, Missouri, in 2020. These centers collectively enhance Honda's ability to serve its customers efficiently across different regions.
Honda Power Sports & Products is a business unit of American Honda Motor Co., Inc., responsible for sales, marketing, and operational activities for power equipment and powersports products through independent authorized dealers in the United States. Their product range includes motorcycles, scooters, ATVs, side-by-sides, generators, lawn mowers, pumps, snow blowers, tillers, string trimmers, outboard marine engines and small engines for various applications.
