Honda Awards Top Indirect Procurement Suppliers At 2024 Business Gala
Honda recently celebrated 33 suppliers for their exceptional performance in providing indirect products and services to its North American operations. This recognition took place during Honda's annual Indirect Procurement Supplier Conference in Dublin, Ohio. In 2023, Honda's purchases from these suppliers exceeded $5 billion (USD).
Suppliers honoured at the event were chosen from over 5,000 candidates. They were acknowledged in categories such as Supplier of the Year, Regional Supplier of the Year, New Supplier, Sustainability, Challenging Spirit, and Outstanding Value. These suppliers provide a wide range of equipment, products, and services essential for Honda's business operations.

The theme of the 2024 conference was 'Transformation to Tomorrow,' highlighting Honda's commitment to achieving zero environmental impact by 2050. This goal involves adopting new processes and technologies within its supply chain to achieve carbon neutrality, clean energy usage, and resource recirculation through sustainable materials.
"Major shifts like the one we are undertaking will unlock new potential for Honda and our suppliers, requiring that we work seamlessly together as a team to take advantage of these opportunities," said Elly Bradford, Division Lead for North American Indirect Procurement. "This is truly an extraordinary time to be a part of Honda, and that includes being a Honda partner."
The Supplier of the Year award went to Aires from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania for their consistent performance and value addition. New Supplier awards were given to AB Dynamics, Inc. from Wixom, Michigan and First Advantage from Atlanta, Georgia for their outstanding implementation practices.
The Sustainability category recognised ABB Inc., A.P. Moller - Maersk, Cintas Corporation, IBC Industrial Supply Plus Inc., Kyndryl U.S., and Trio for their strong initiatives in corporate responsibility through social, economic or environmental sustainability.
Challenging Spirit Recognition
For the first time, Honda de Mexico and Honda Canada Manufacturing participated in recognising suppliers under the Challenging Spirit category. This award acknowledges those who go above and beyond expectations to ensure success or delivery of a service or product. Recipients included Accenture from Chicago and Amazon Business from Seattle.
Other Challenging Spirit awardees were Auto Warehousing Co., Brooks Distribution Services, Canadian Bearings, Deloitte., DIPROLAM from Mexico, E&L Construction Group's Paint Systems Division, Elwood Staffing Services Inc., GO2 PARTNERS INC., Microsoft Corporation, MullenLowe, Oak Harbor Freight Lines Inc., Professional Auto Transport and VIVA Creative.
Outstanding Value Providers
The Outstanding Value category highlighted suppliers who delivered competitive advantages through cost efficiencies and innovative projects. Honourees included Aires again along with Amazon Web Services (AWS), Cintas Corporation, Federal Express Corporation (FedEx), J.D. Power, supplyFORCE LLC., Ulterior Products LLC., Verizon Wireless and Vestis Services LLC.
Regional Excellence
The Regional Supplier of the Year awards recognised exceptional regional contributions: Genric from Marysville for Central Region; Motion from Birmingham for Southern Region; AWS from Seattle for Western Region.
Honda's North American Operations
Honda began its North American operations in 1959 and now employs around 42,000 associates involved in various sectors including automobiles and power equipment. The company operates 18 major manufacturing plants across North America working with over 750 suppliers to produce diverse quality products.
In 2023 alone, over 99% of all Honda and Acura vehicles sold in the U.S. were produced locally in North America. Additionally, Honda conducts extensive research and development at 23 facilities across the region where many North American-made products are designed and engineered.
This year's supplier conference underscored Honda’s ongoing transformation efforts towards sustainability while celebrating key partners who contribute significantly to its success.
