Honda's E-Clutch Tech Debuts In US With CB650R & CBR650R For Enhanced Riding
American Honda has announced that its 2024 CB650R and CBR650R models will feature the innovative Honda E-Clutch technology. This advanced feature, previously introduced in Europe, simplifies the riding experience by eliminating the need to pull in a clutch lever during starts, gear changes, and stops. The E-Clutch aims to make riding more enjoyable for both beginners and experienced riders.
"Honda has long been a pioneer in the field of innovative motorcycle clutch and transmission technology, and we're pleased to continue that tradition with the 2024 CB650R and CBR650R," said Colin Miller, Manager of Public Relations at American Honda. "By eliminating the need to pull in a clutch lever during starts, gear changes and stops, E-Clutch simplifies riding and makes it more enjoyable for beginners and experts alike. And yes, if and when you prefer to ride in a traditional manner, the clutch lever can still be used."
The 2024 CB650R not only incorporates the E-Clutch but also boasts an updated Neo Sports Café look. This naked bike is designed for daily commutes as well as weekend rides on twisty roads. It features new styling elements, LED lighting, and a TFT screen. Additionally, nine Honda Accessories are available to enhance its appearance and functionality.
The CBR650R also benefits from several updates alongside its sibling model. This middleweight sport bike combines practicality with performance through a finely tuned chassis and a high-revving inline-four-cylinder engine. The new styling upgrades make it even more appealing to modern sport-bike enthusiasts.
Among the new 2025 models is the flagship CBR1000RR-R Fireblade SP. Known for its performance in MotoAmerica's Stock 1000 class, this model now includes significant upgrades aimed at further enhancing its capabilities. The Fireblade SP features elite electronic suspension, advanced rider aids, and an ultra-capable inline four-cylinder engine.
The announcement also highlighted four returning on-road models: the CBR1000RR and CBR600RR supersport models, the CB300R standard bike, and the Monkey miniMOTO. All these models are expected to be available in dealerships by September.
Returning Models for 2025
The 2025 CBR1000RR continues Honda's "Total Control" philosophy with its lightweight design and optimal power delivery. Available in both ABS and non-ABS versions, this superbike excels in competitive environments while appealing to riders seeking high performance for daily use.
The CBR600RR remains a top choice for those looking for a motorcycle that performs well both on and off the racetrack. With its high-performance inline-four engine and responsive Showa suspension inspired by Honda's racing heritage, it offers racetrack-level performance at an accessible price point.
Entry-Level Options
The CB300R maintains its position as an entry-level bike with minimalist yet aggressive styling. It features blacked-out hardware, lightweight aluminum wheels, and ABS brakes. These attributes make it an attractive option for new riders who want modern features at an affordable price.
Honda's iconic Monkey returns for 2025 with its nostalgic styling combined with modern performance features such as a fuel-injected 124cc engine and ABS brakes. Its compact build appeals to both entry-level riders and motorcycling veterans who appreciate its retro charm.
All these models reflect Honda's commitment to innovation while catering to a wide range of riders' needs. From advanced technologies like the E-Clutch to updates on flagship models like the Fireblade SP, Honda continues to push forward in delivering exceptional motorcycles.
