Honda Civic Type R TCR Achieves Top Finishes In Mid-Ohio IMSA Challenge
A quartet of Honda Civic Type R TCR machines competed at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course this weekend for the IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge O'Reilly Auto Parts Four Hours of Mid-Ohio. The event concluded with a front-row lockout and finishes in fifth, sixth, seventh, and eleventh places.
The Montreal Motorsport Group's #93 car started on pole position, with Karl Wittmer setting a new track record. Wittmer and co-driver Dai Yoshihara led the first 41 laps before receiving a drive-through penalty for contact with the #99 car. They ultimately finished in fifth place.
The sister car, #6 Honda Civic Type R TCR from MMG, qualified third but moved up to start alongside the #93 on the front row. Co-drivers LP Montour and Bryan Ortiz led 35 laps and finished in seventh place.
The HART machine, driven by Chad Gilsinger, Steve Eich, and Tyler Chambers, faced challenges including a drive-through penalty and contact with a GS-class car. Despite these setbacks, they managed to finish in sixth place after an unscheduled pit stop to clear grass from the radiation screen.
Racers Edge Motorsports' Result
The fourth Honda Civic Type R TCR from Racers Edge Motorsports, driven by Daniel Wu and Tazio Ottis, qualified 16th and finished 11th in the race.

Karl Wittmer's Comments
Karl Wittmer of the #93 Montreal Motorsports Group Honda Civic Type R TCR remarked on their performance: "A strong effort and great execution by the whole crew helped us stay in the championship hunt. [We had] some ups and downs during the 4-hour race, but still a positive weekend to say the least in terms of progressing towards our goals. Hats off to my co-driver, Dai Yoshihara, for his mega stint today."
Upcoming Race at Watkins Glen International Raceway
The next event in the 2024 IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge is scheduled for June 22 at Watkins Glen International Raceway in upstate New York. The race is known as The Esses 120 at Watkins Glen.
