Honda Civic, Accord, And CR-V Achieve Third Consecutive Win At Car And Driver 10Best Awards
Honda has once again outshone its competitors by securing more 2025 Car and Driver 10Best Awards than any other brand. The company has amassed a total of 95 awards since the inception of these accolades, marking the highest number for any brand. The Honda Accord, in particular, stands out with a record-breaking 39 wins, maintaining a streak of 27 consecutive years.
The full lineup of Honda Civic models, including the Sedan, Hatchback, Si, and Type R, has been recognised for the third consecutive year. This recognition highlights the new Hybrid variant's appeal. Additionally, the Honda CR-V and its hybrid version have claimed their third consecutive award in the 10Best Trucks and SUVs category.
Jessika Laudermilk, assistant vice president of Honda Auto Sales, expressed pride in these achievements. "Winning three prestigious Car and Driver 10Best awards for the third year in a row speaks to the passion our Honda engineers and production associates pour into these products for our customers," she stated. The electrification of models like Civic, Accord, and CR-V is seen as a promising step towards an electrified future.
The Honda Accord has been America's best-selling car over the last five decades. It holds the title as the most awarded vehicle in Car and Driver 10Best history. The Civic has earned its 11th award while this marks the sixth win for the CR-V. These vehicles play a crucial role in Honda's strategy to increase hybrid sales.
Currently, over half of Accord and CR-V sales are hybrid-electric trims. It is anticipated that Civic hybrids will eventually make up 40% of Civic sales. All three models are equipped with Honda's advanced two-motor hybrid system designed to enhance efficiency while delivering dynamic performance.
Tony Quiroga, Editor-in-Chief of Car and Driver, praised the new hybrid model: "The new hybrid model maintains the handling and practicality all Civics enjoy, boasts the best fuel economy numbers in the lineup, and it's as quick as the performance-oriented Si."
Criteria for Car and Driver Awards
The Car and Driver 10Best list has set standards for excellence for over four decades. To qualify, vehicles must be all-new or significantly updated models available by January 31, 2024. They must also fall under a base price cap of $110,000. Editors evaluate more than 80 vehicles over two weeks to determine scores from zero to 100.
Two lists are released: one for cars and another for trucks and SUVs. This rigorous process ensures only top-performing vehicles receive recognition each year.
Manufacturing Excellence
All three award-winning Honda models are manufactured in North America as part of Honda's commitment to building products close to customers. The Marysville Auto Plant in Ohio produces the Accord while Civic Hatchbacks are made at Indiana Auto Plant; Sedans come from Canada.
The CR-V is built across three plants including Ohio’s East Liberty Auto Plant along with facilities in Indiana & Canada too! Over six million CR-Vs have been produced here so far!
