Honda Cars India Sales Jump To 10,867 Units In April 2024: Elevate Exports Propel

Honda Cars India Ltd. (HCIL) has witnessed a significant uptick in its sales figures for April 2024, with a total of 10,867 units sold, marking a notable increase from the 7,676 units sold in April 2023.

The growth in sales is split between domestic sales, which saw 4,351 units sold, and exports, which surged to 6,516 units. This performance contrasts with the previous year's figures for April, where domestic sales were at 5,313 units and exports stood at 2,363 units.

One of the key drivers behind the surge in exports, which grew by an impressive 175%, is the Elevate model, which Honda started exporting to Japan from India in March 2024. In Japan, the Elevate is marketed as the 'WR-V’.

Honda's current Indian market lineup consists of only three models: Amaze, City, and Elevate. According to Mr Kunal Behl, Vice President of Marketing & Sales at HCIL, the increase in exports, particularly of the Elevate, has significantly contributed to the company's export volume growth.

The company also undertook a switchover in the production of Elevate and City to incorporate six airbags as a standard feature, aiming to enhance the safety offerings in its vehicles. This move comes as part of Honda's recent update to the safety equipment across all three vehicles in its lineup.

Safety features are now standard across Elevate, City, and Amaze including six airbags, three-point Emergency Locking Retractor (ELR) seat belts, and seat belt reminders for all occupants. The Elevate SUV, in particular, now comes equipped with these safety features across its SV, V, and VX variants.

The City and City Hybrid models have been updated to include six airbags in the SV and V variants, along with seat belt reminders as a standard feature across all variants. The Amaze sedan has been enhanced with seat belt reminders for all five seats as a standard feature.

DriveSpark Thinks

This focus on safety, coupled with strategic exports, has positioned Honda to continue its growth trajectory in the Indian market and beyond. With these updates, Honda aims to offer vehicles that are not only high in quality but also prioritize the safety of their occupants, aligning with the needs and expectations of modern consumers.
