Honda Cars India Recalls 90,468 Vehicles Over Fuel Pump Failures

Honda Cars India Ltd (HCIL) has expanded its recall campaign to address a recurring issue with fuel pumps. This latest recall affects 90,468 vehicles manufactured between September 2017 and June 2018. The models involved include the Amaze, Brio, BR-V, City, Jazz, and WR-V. The recall aims to replace faulty fuel pumps that could potentially disrupt engine performance.

Details of the Recall

The current recall also includes 2,204 additional units where the fuel pump was previously used as a spare part. These units span across various models such as the Accord, Amaze, Brio, BR-V, City, Civic, Jazz, and WR-V. The issue with the defective impellers in these pumps can lead to engine malfunction over time.

In June 2020, Honda had initiated a similar recall affecting 65,651 vehicles for the same problem. This ongoing concern has prompted HCIL to take preventive measures by replacing the faulty components free of charge. The replacements will commence from November 5 at authorised dealerships throughout India.

Checking Vehicle Status

Owners can verify if their vehicle is part of this recall by entering their car's 17-character Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) on a dedicated microsite available on Honda Car India's website. Additionally, those who had their fuel pump replaced as a spare between June 2017 and October 2023 at an authorised dealership can also check their vehicle's status.

The affected vehicle owners will receive individual notifications from Honda regarding this recall. The company assures that all replacements will be conducted without any cost to the customers at authorised service centres across India.

DriveSpark Thinks

This proactive step by Honda aims to ensure customer safety and maintain trust in their products. By addressing these issues promptly and efficiently, HCIL continues to uphold its commitment to quality and reliability for its customers in India.
